In the Yorkshire Post this morning it says the FA are to investigate Dean Windass' part in the sending off of John Finnigan at Cheltenham at the weekend after complaints from the manager John Ward. Here comes another ban i think even though Dean protests his innocence i think he is a marked man after last years biting claims & the car park joke.

There is no video evidence and he was cautioned at the time so isn't the issue dealt with?

Or is this a case of the FA changing the rules as and when they want.

They can investigate an assault charge even though he was booked.

It depends on what grounds Cheltenham complained - If it's the challenge then the FA will say the Ref booked him for it, if it's an actual assault accusation that can be investigated.

They might have complained about sexual harrasment as he was fiddling with his plums.

No doubt somebody from Cheltenham has lodged a complaint with the Avon and Gloucestershire Metropolitan Police. Before we know it he'll be up in front of a High Court Judge pleading not guilty to assault, the abduction of Lord Lucan, the murder of Princess Di and the assassination of JFK.

How can grabbing someones nuts be classed as assault in a game of football ffs? If it was that bad and the ref saw it which he must have to book deano then it would have been red

FA to look at Windass incident
Ian Appleyard

Dean Windass could find himself in trouble with the Football Association after a Cheltenham player accused the Bradford City striker of grabbing him by the testicles.
The FA contacted officials at Cheltenham yesterday and requested video footage of the incident which marred last Saturday's match.
Windass allegedly 'put the squeeze' on midfielder John Finnigan and his actions led to the opposition player being sent off for swinging a retaliatory elbow.
The veteran striker, who was unavailable for comment last night, now faces trial by television but is set to play in tonight's Yorkshire derby against League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.
Significantly, it is not the first time that Windass's off- the-ball antics have sparked controversy – as only last season he was involved in two seperate incidents of alleged biting against Southend United and Bournemouth.
Sean O'Driscoll – who was in charge of Bournemouth last season – is now the manager of tonight's opponents Rovers and says the time has come for referees to clamp down on Windass's unwelcome behaviour.
Cheltenham manager John Ward, meanwhile, exchanged words with Windass immediately after Saturday's game and was also angry that Windass went down clutching his face after apparently being struck in the chest.
"I have known Dean for a long time," said Ward. "I spoke to him after the match and told him what I saw happen and he replied by saying it was part of the game, but I disagree.
"I can tell you exactly what happened – the fourth official has seen Dean Windass grab John Finnigan by the groin and John has thrown his arm across Windass's chest to get him off.
"You can't ask any grown man not to react when that happens to them.
"I have seen it on the video and it happened and I don't like that kind of behaviour and I am aggrieved that both offences were not treated the same."
An FA spokesman last night confirmed that they were investigating the alleged incident and studying the report of referee Clive Penton.

Anyways back on topic!

So there is video evidence?..

...this coupled with the fact that allegedly Deano has admitted 'cheating' and also the FA 'vendetta' against him could see a very long ban.:(

I hope not:eek:

It's funny how Ward at no point criticises his player for a) nearly chopping Windass in two mere minutes before and b) swinging an elbow about when he get's a bit of a squeeze downstairs.

Fails to mention the dangerous challenge on Bower in the corner near the touchline, the push on Wetherhall that should have been a penalty, the countless cynical trips and fouls on the midfield...

Instead he picks up on one incident that is nowhere near a red card. Feck me it's not like Finnigan's gone down writhing in agony so how is it the same offence to swinging a dangerous elbow about?

The guy's a muppet and because of him and solely him, Deano will be targetted for the rest of the season, even when he's proven innocent.
