Database error - the database has encountered a problem

The screen keeps freezing and displaying this:

Twice in the last hour it's done this and I've had to go to another site and come back 10 minutes later when it's worked again.

Some reason mysql keeps running away .... i'm trying to tame it.

I have a VB pager I cannot get rid of -- even after replying to it -- close it down and it appears again on the next page I open--
Open VB pager and I get a blank box?????
