View Full Version : MY Day ...in a box......

Today ...Was the works Christmas do.....I booked it a few weeks ago withthe club who where very very good and i got a great deal.

20 x people £20 a head - £400 - for a warm room to have some beer in and a game for those that wanted to attend.

Got the tickets well in advance and in instructions for the day.

NOW it gets bad!!!!!

Phone call from a young lady at EMC....what do you want in the bar etc.

I explained i would like the fridges full of carlsburg and plenty of them as we had 20 blookes coming for the game. ans some soft drinks for the guys whe where driving - some came from Castleford for the game.

When I arrived ........The fridges where full of well...actually 12 bottles of Carsldburg, 6 cans of Tetleys and four bottles of Cola.

One of the fridges was so dirty with old spiled beer I was gobsmacked.

I asked to see the manager - who was NOT in attendance in the corporate box's - i saw the saturday "rep" who only works at VP on matchdays.

He explained that we EMC where having stock issues and said he would attempt to get some beer from the other box's that did not need them. they brought them through out the game - six at a time - warm!!!!!!!

I asked for some Magners 9 the Cider stuff) and was brought 12 - sorry no ice was available - i may have to get some from the bar!!!

THEN FFS - it cost £6 a frigging bottle!!!!! - what Mark up price is that!!!!!!!

it was so cold most of the guys stayed indoors but we have another ADOLF HITLER Steward who walked past about 8 people to tell my lads to sit down....the ones he walked past where "Named holders - ie box's with their names on the door) - he came back three times and eventually threatened to take me guys and expell them from the ground - we where hardly drunk - you couldnt if you tried - beer was not coming fast enough!!!! (Shabby service )

Thankfully Lynsey got involved and my two guys where let back into the box.

How you can stand 4' behind a glass door with beer in your hand and still be threatened with expulsion is behond me ........

OK - I may have only paid £400 for the match day facility - ONLY - I may have only had drivers and warehouse staff with me.....they where certainly NOT making problems and we had this jack booted idiot - with the i'll expell you attitude thumping up and down the seats. HE then ordered FOUR stewards to come and make sure no one was looking outside the window and no one was standing.....Lynsey thankfully got them moved away - but we had our very own steward for the last 20 mins.......

I fully understand the licencing rules the FA regulations and why we have to have curtains drawn during the game ....and they where - my guys where sat on the bloody radiators to keep warm and where still accused of looking out the door.

To ADD insult to injury the beer the bar bill was £220 - as the guys where drinking the wine as the beer dried up.............

I did ask for pie and peas at half time but was told it would be £7 per head. ( i did say that I only wanted mini pork pies - not the full cow pie things)

I for one will not do that again - and it was not even my money.......

The chief steward who's name i forget - he was the one with the Brown shirt and jack boots on is a complete arse and I would love for him to come to my place of work - if he did..... i'd treat him with total disrecpect and bad manners too......For all he knew i may well have been a rich guy eying up the faciliteis tio invest - ffs.

I eventually sent the majority of my guys home weel oiled - thanks to the great hospitality of the Naweebs Curry house on Manor row.......

ONLY Difference being i had a curry Banquet and at least four largers each ( and then some ) for the princly price of £185.00

Chris Patzfelt is the security manager - so i know better that to write him or julian a complaint letter - what good would it do......I'm only a paying guest after all.

Regardless of what you spent you still would expect a level of service wether it be from EMC or the football club itself.
More and more stories are coming out of the football club about the level of service they are getting.
If the company who are providing our catering cannot get it right for a group of 20 at a christmas bash then what hope has the club got of attracting the higher profile clients in to the football club.

If Geoffery Richmond had been chairman,he would have brought you 3/4 crates of lager and then offered you another booking at half price.
Like the old saying goes "They couldnt run a piss up in a brewery".

As for the head steward,he is an absolute coward and thrives on throwing his power strung ego about.I remember one game when he picked on the wrong set of blokes, trying his ego trip of dont mess with me im the MANNNNNNN.
He absolutly **** his pants when the blokes turned round and said they were going to rip his head off, they took pictures of him on their mobiles and said they were going to get him.He called in the Police and was begging them to get the phones off the lads and delete his picture. He is the classic case of a nerd, who thinks he has the power to strut about like tommy ten men, thinking he has the police round him,if the **** hits the fan.

Sounds disgusting mate... Better to write the letter in the hope something is done rather than asuming nothing will...

If everyone did that nothing would be brought to anyones attenttion, so nothing has a chance to change...

As for the steward they are all dicks......

If Geoffery Richmond had been chairman,he would have brought you 3/4 crates of lager and then offered you another booking at half price.

Then ensured he claimed £50,000 from the books to square him now been out of pocket by £400

Ernie I am speechless. I cannot believe that you received such poor treatment from people who have absolutely no idea of the value of a paying customer.I suggest respectfully that you write to Julian Rhodes with copies to the Managing Director of EMC and a copy to Chris Bazelt (? ) with a further copy to the Marketing Manager of Bradford City FC. Who is running the show? Are they trying to attract business and then repeat business? The best business is your repeat business.Worse still, you are not going to repeat the disaster and your staff are going to talk about it which will cost yet more business.I just cannot believe the amateur effort you had to contend with.No wonder there are money problems at Valley Parade. If you don't get a response follow it up in a a few days and keep it up until you do get a response from Julian. In fact you should address his letter as Personal so it might get past whoever opens his mail. I had problems at the first match of the season with the non professional caterers in the Sunwin and my mate complained. The manager sought me out at the next match and assured me that they would do better.Sounds like they haven't improved and are amateurs trying to earn a living in the big league. Cheers.

On a smaler scale, but just another indication of how shite things are down at City.

A number of teams from our lasses office have had Christmas do's at VP. I understand that in previous years they've not been bad. Everyone has slated them - can't imagine anyone going back.

On a tiny scale, but further indication. No hot water in Midland Rd. Coffees were only just above lukewarm at the end of half time.

This place is a joke.

How many folk have been? You have to ask yourself.

Another case of the obvious contempt the fans are held in by the current owner of Bradford City F.C and his cronies.

If I were you Ernie I'd be asking for my money back and using the courts to assist you in this. **** em mate, when they are taking the piss out of you and people like you, they are taking piss out of each and every one of the fans that put money in these ****s pockets.

Shame it was screwed up, best way to get a response would be to email all the users and CC in the local papers, as you can bet they will be in touch to find out what Julian & EMC have to say or do about it.

As for the others who've brought Richmond into it, what's the point in using another thread to try and bash people who have different opinions to yourself? it's always the same few and it's very tiresome.

I sit in the back row of the lower tier of the sunwin. Unless there was 2 incidents at the boxes yesterday then I was outside Ernies box.
I can vouch for the guys inside the box that the stewards were a disgrace. So much so that a quiet laid back guy like myself was ready to voice an opinion of it.
The young blonde male steward kept saying " f' ing get him out of there, I want him f'ing out of there". He said similar things repeatedly and was determined someone was going to be thrown out. Apparently someone was taking the p155 and he wasnt having it! A bald lad with a flattened nose ( he had a jacket on that told folk he wasnt just an ordinary steward) also put his two penneth worth in. Suddenly there was several stewards around the door trying to get in the box. Am I right in thinking they locked the door on the inside? It calmed down a bit when some blonde lass came around to sort things.
The stewards were like thugs. They reminded me of leeds fans. They were just up for a ruck and it was at the expense of paying customers at our club.
I was disgusted. If I was the JR and witnessed that I'd have thrown the stewards out and told them not to come back.

Macca Ha Ha Ha

The Bantams Bar ran out of pies at half time, everyone had to wait until they went round the Kop to get some spare from other tea bars.

That was because Matty kins ate them all.

I went half way through the second half in the B Bar.

Reply: Sold Out.

Asked for a pizza pod:

Reply: Discontinued.

Eventually I got the last pie in the bastrad cooker. A slimy cheese and onion number.

Regarding the stewards you have to realise that most are in deadend jobs.

They probably stack shelves in Morrisons or are glorified tea boys. Being a steward is their only role with a tiny bit of authority all week long and they abuse the privalage of holding responsiblity by acting like nobs as was posted previously in the thread.

So for every customer who messed up their pyramid of pickled onions and for every tea that was sent back for being too cold, they take it out on the fans of BCFC and by the look of it, the powers that be let them.

B_i_N
18th December 2006, 09:55 AM
Those booze prices that Ernie paid sound like Norwegian prices. It's a shame when fans try to do something to help the club they turn round and not only abuse them, but rip them off as well. Quite honestly I don't mind paying high prices, if what I get is worth it. This definately does not sound like it is worth it.
Some of those stewards sound like they some giant inferiority complexes. But like Rick says they probably stack shelves at Morrisons or clean the kitchens out at the local hotels for the rest of the week.
From a few threads I've read now, it sounds like the catering standards at VP are going down the pan.
Instead of winning over new fans, the club after reading many threads on the City message boards now seems very good at alienating the present ones.

I'll tell you how I felt when I read your post. I felt embarrassed, and I live hundreds of miles away.

I guess many were happy that the club were going to get some hard cash. It's just a scandal how a catering company can seen to be getting away ripping so many people off. But if they keep doshing out sub standard food and service, then they will go bankrupt.

I think me & KB mentioned at the time of both deals that the club would earn more money if they employed commercial managers to run both enterprise's who actually had an ounce of buisness acumen instead of the trained chimps who were running it at the time....OK pay them more, but we'd have got our money back tenfold!....Still, I dont expect anything less from them making the big decisions these days at VPtdwn: ....wonder who it was, Jim Bowen or Mrs JR who had the brainstorm?
