I as much as anyone attack Todds lack of faith in the young players at City but lets have an honest appraisal of their potential of the ones i've seen in action at 1st team level:
Jon Swift - very confident lad but just lacking at our level
Tom Penford - very skilful but because of injuries i feel his chance has passed him by
Joe Colbeck - seems to be going backwards in his development
Joe Brown - seems to have an eye for goal but little else to his game
Simon Ainge - very promising introduction, maybe next season could make a breakthrough
Craig Bentham - the one most likely in my mind to stake a claim for a regular spot

Jon Swift - He's 22 and if he was going to make it then he would have by now. In theory. However he hasn't been given any faith by Todd so who knows if he could have made a dent had he not been passed over for Edghill or Giveballaway in recent times. Why has he never been loaned out?
Tom Penford - Seems like he may finally be breaking through into CT's thoughts. Bad luck with injury. Another one who would have benefitted from a loan move.
Joe Colbeck - seems to be going backwards in his development.. why is that? Could that simply be because of the way he has been handled by Todd? Let's see him in action after January when the loans go back.
Joe Brown - Can't comment on him. Think we need to forget him this season, loan him out and bring in 2 new loan strikers.
Simon Ainge - by all accounts did very very well in his cameo and has been discarded as a scapegoat by the Turdmeister. This kid will come good.
Craig Bentham - the one most likely in my mind to stake a claim for a regular spot.. agreed.
--- THE OTHERS ---
Luke O'Brien - Travelled with the squad at the age of 16. Young player of the year. Highly rated by all. Should have been given Parkers chance. Very young still so if he bides his time and develops physically he could be the new Lewis!
Ben Saynor - Only 17 and already battling it out with Howarth for the number 2 spot. Shouldn't be long before he gets that spot.
Patrick McGuire - 21 already and barely made a murmur. One for the loan pile me thinks.
Nicky Smith - Sent out on loan, good move. Doesn't sound like he's going to make much impact at City. 2 weeks younger than JoeBo and well behind in the pecking order. Probably release candidate end of season.
Leon Osborne - One to watch.
Sean Taylforth - One to watch.

John Swift Trained with Macclesfield in the hope of securing a contract with them, he failed and if he can't get a contract at Macclesfield then i'm going to trust Todd on his reasons for never trying him. Macclesfield couldnt win for toffee when he went there and they were the league's whipping boys... He's the next Danny Forrest.

SO why give him a new contract at the end of last season? I'm not arguing that he isn't good enough, I don't think he is but like I say, why the new contract?

He needed 1 RB at least with Edghill on a long term injury & Holloway leaving. Doyle didn't arrive until the eve of the season.

Swift has hardly been given a chance by Turd so how he can be written off is beyond me - probably he refuses to bow to the master and pays the price.
Todd has his favourites and the rest flounder.

Swift is a ****in prick mate, he probably hasnt got his chance cos he's such an arrogant ******. My mate used to play for city and has since left and told me about him, apparently Joe Brown is similar.

Dutch Bantam - You say colbeck is going backwards and instantly its todds fault, why does it have to be todd's fault? Maybe he just cant cut it, there's a much better right winger at the club and when colbeck got his chance against hudders he blew it, he was rubbish in a game he should have been more up 4. Also he has bairly done anything as a sub so if he isnt prepaired to grab the bull by the horns so to speak when he comes on then why is that todds fault? Its just bollox blaiming everything on todd, how about he hasnt got consistency in his game so todd cant really afford to play him.

I blame everything on Todd. He's a w**ker ;)
However if you re-read my post you will see that I was quoting Jantje and then not making a statement but in fact just posing the question. JoeCo has been handled poorly by Todd in the press, as well as in the team... in-out, in-out, slag him off, etc. That does not inspire a youngster in any profession.
Perhaps he can't cut it but without the support of his manager we might not get the chance to find out. Same with all the rest of the kids during Todd's reign. I mean he seems to actually like Bentham but what happens if he has one average game next month? I would put money on him being dropped for a few months. That is Todd's way... and it's ruining our club.

Bantam Menace - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Joe Brown hardly seems an arrogant chracter - maybe Swift has a bit about him, unlike your pal who was shown the door.
