Which City player, in your opinion, had the silkiest skills and the deftest touch. Was it Beagrie, Blake, Carbone, etc? Or someone from a bygone era who you never saw but have read the reports about or heard about from your father or grandfather. Who would it be? And be clear, this isn't about the all-round game. Ball-skills only.

I'm especially interested to hear from the older lads on this one. (Where are you young Bill!)

Cheers,

FKAM.

Carbone and Waddle for me...

Best players though were Campbell and McCall.

Morrison was amazing, just never played to his full at city because of todds man management, doesn't have a clue about those type of players (or any others for that matter)

But obviousely Carbone was the most gifted in the skills area i've ever seen grace a claret and amber jersey

Waddle and Carbone, with Benito just getting the vote.
I've seen some great City players; Bannister, Campbell, Suart etc but Benito had the best ball skills.

......Gary Watson

Gary Watson lol...I used to deliver his milk in Eccleshill...Is this the worst shot in the clubs history thread lol...

He was a top bloke btw....

Ron Futcher....Slow as fook but a nice touch....

Most skilful Carbone without a doubt...Waddle, beags and Jaime Lawrence on his day close behind...

Best player??? Still thinking....tup:

When Leigh Palin was on form and off the booze and gambling he was no mean footballer.

Chris Waddle. A one man team during his spell at City. Quite glad when he left though as I think we depended on him too much. Just my opinion but he made Carbone look like Holloway.

Leigh Pailins a good call Twighlight. A cracking player when he could be arsed. Shame that wasn't too often and fits into the "wasted talent" category.

Gavin Oliver KB? I just don't think you're taking this thread seriously:D

Citys best ever footballer in my lifetime was without doubt Stuart McCall. Nobody comes close. Skill wise though it has to be Robbie Blake. Benni could put on a show, but it was usually out wide with nothing at stake. The much maligned fat lad that liked a punt or three on the horses did it in and around the box, usually with devasting effect.

Forget Mrs Mills' goals, no Blake, no Premiership. Thanks geez. tup:

Leigh Palin - good shout, frustrating talent!!....

Allan Davies and Robbie James the two Taff's were both class, pity we had em both at the arse end of their careers - both sadly now departed from this world!!

Robbie Blake - yep, another who was extremely skillfull.....

No better sight than Hendrie in full flow, those bandy legs dribbling with the ball....

Waddle - speaks for himself!!

But, without a shadow of a doubt is has to be Benny Carbone - the way he almost single handedly took apart Gillingham in that Friday night game at VP when we beat em 5-1 was awesome - i remember Andy Hesenthaler throwing his hands up in the air after he'd put him on his arse for about the 7th time in a gesture saying "what the fook are me and my team gonna do against him?".....just like all the old greats, i'm glad i was privalaged enough to have seen him play in the claret and amber!!

Yeah, Beni and Pepper for me.

I want to get Young Bill on this though coz he saw Abe Rosenthal in action and I heard he was a good player. Some of the old Tranmere lads swear he was their best player ever.
