This restaurant/bar has replaced The Last Viceroy that used to be across the road but was a very small place for a restaurant. This building is much bigger and does not feel as claustrophobic or like you are sat on each others knees. When we arrived we were handed something that resembled a spaceship with flashing lights, a kind of black circular disc. You take this with you while you go to the bar upstairs for a drink and when your table is ready it starts to flash and vibrate to let you know. You hand this back in at the reception area and are shown to your table. This is much more effective than a waiter looking round a restaurant for you or having to call out your name, gimmicky, yes but different.

For starters I had Onion Bhaji and the girlfriend had Lamb Chops. We only had to wait a short while before they arrived. Portions were very generous and the bhajis were very spicy. The girlfriend enjoyed the lamb chops and thought they were very tasty. Our glasses were empty and within moments we were asked if we would like another drink but it wasn't like the waiters were jumping on you to order one, they were very polite and had noticed the empty glasses.

For main course I ordered a Chicken Tikka main course with chips and the girlfriend had a chicken korma. The tikka came on a sizzling hot plate and there was loads of it, a massive portion and I ended up leaving a few pieces. It was really tasty and is cooked in a tandoor oven like Akbars and Saffron. The chips were also very tasty which is not usually the case at an Indian Restaurant.

The girlfriend enjoyed her korma which came with a large portion of rice and we shared a large naan bread. She said it was the best korma she had tasted. We did not wait long between courses and our bill was there within moments of us asking for it. I could not fault the restaurant at all, the decor is nice, the prices are affordable, the staff are very polite and the food is gorgeous. I'll definitely be going back there. If you ever fancy a Claret and Banter night out book this place and count me in.
