Why should she be?
I had a veggie sausage sandwhich for my brekkie on Saturday - never again.....i could feel the female hormones as soon as i started digesting it.....a few weeks of that and i'd have started wearing knitted jumpers, dungarees and sandals and acting like a fag - like the majority of veggies do!!....

I disagree with you on this one KB.
Our lass indoors is making me go on this Weight Watchers diet with her as a way of "supporting" her through it.
She has bought meat free sausages and meat free mince as these products have less calories in them.
Admittedly, when she presented this to me after the saturday shop at Morribags I couldnt help but turn my nose up at the notion of "gay food", but when I sampled the meat substitute I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I'm having a meat free chilli tonight.
Dont get me wrong, real meat tastes nicer, but as a healthy alternative, I think meat-free could be a thing for the future.
Well done PK for your foresight in the matter

What the **** brought that onslaught on Matty Lad?.....you seem to slag off the Veggie way of life whilst all the time chucking bad stuff down your rozzer.
I have no regrets whatsoever about becoming a "yogurt knitting faggy *******" as after 40 odd years of abusing my body in various legal and illegal ways I now at the age of 44.5 feel better than ever.
Im thinner, leaner, healthier and fitter than at any point in my life since my mid teens. Some of this I can attribute to the Veggie way of life and some to my gruelling fitness regime.
You my non Police Porkieman seem to mix the odd fruit smoothie and eat the odd organic meal and you ****ing dare to critize my way of livingjawdrop:
Instead of slagging off Vegetarianism all the time why not see what its really like....I dont mean the crap stuff offered in restaurants or at Morrisons ect ect........get a babysitter...get some beers and drag yourself and Sarah round to ours one time and sample with us what we eat. If after that you are still in your present frame of mind then I will bow to your cynicism.

Don't give me that crap Prawny - i'm well aware of the advantage/disadvantages of eating meat - and the fact of the matter is you do so because YOU HAD TO BECAUSE OF HEALTH REASONS - you'd still be eating meat with the rest of us had you been able to.....
The point of my posting is that you put an angry face because it appears she's given up on being a veggie - why? Everyone is entitled to do and eat as they please mate!!
I go through phases of giving up red meat for a month here and there and eat much less meat - i have a balanced, healthy diet which includes meat - i too have never felt healthier or had as much energy, like everything else my friend MODERATION is the way!!....

No mate thats where you're wrong...I gave up because I wanted to and not because of health reasons. Of course I can eat meat..Im human am I not?...I just choose not to thats all.
Admittedly the health aspect does come into the equation but its not the main reason.
I put a mad face on the post as Im dissapointed that anyone who has been a Veggie reverts to a meat way of life thats all. Each to their own and I respect that of course.
You know The Chemist of course and he is another example. He was a Veggie for 18 years then just went back to eating meat. I just dont understand that after all that time.

Probably because they realised that a healthy, balanced diet that includes meat - but in moderation is just as healthy as a non-meat diet!! tup: I know my food stuff too mate and you won't convince me otherwise ;)
The only reason i could see to give up meat is the moral reason - and that aint strong enough for me!!
Life's too short to give up the pleasures that one enjoys - as mentioned, a little of everything hurts no-one....i'm quite sure that giving up alcohol is beneficial for the body too - but why the fook would you want to give that pleasure up?....

The last time i ate red meat was in the restaurant besides Ripley Castle near Harrogate.
I had a meal that cost £35 quid just for the main course. It was a fillet of steak kind of thing. I've never seen meat like it dude and you know what...I ate about one tenth of it and sat back pushing it away......it bored me..I was just not interested....I did not want to eat it never mind spend all that money on it.
So in short I dont eat meat because it bores me...red meat does not agree with my insides....I dont agree with a living creature giving up its life to provide me with sustenance.
Thats 3 good reasons to become a Vegetarian and 2 more than I'd need. I dont know why you're taking this line with me...do you want a fight?:p

Adie...everyone beats their meat so dont let anyone tell you otherwise...I know these things its my job remember and there's no shame about admitting it.
Anyway back to the topic in hand. I used to get alot of abuse on here for my vegetarianism which up to a point was deserved. Folk pointed out to me that due to the fact that(at the time) I ate fish that I could not call myself a Vegetarian. This point I took on board and allied to the fact that I never really liked fish(Smoked Salmon apart) I have now happily ditched even this. So now I'm proud to be able to say that Iam a Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian which is an accepted form of Vegetarianism.
This of course means that I eat eggs and dairy products. I dont have an ethical problem with these things as nothing is killed to provide me with it. The egg question I covered in a previous thread so wont repeat it here.
I particularly like this quote from Pythagoras...."For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love."
I dont aim to convert anyone as what folk eat is indeed their own business...I'm just passionate about this subject.
To end with here is a link to a video to watch while you eat your tea tonight.

I eat a lot of fish now, better for you and have cut down on dairy - okay okay i aint lost much weight but thats down to excercise - something else thats being addressed in the months ahead.
Why did i kid myself that i liked meat all these years when it was fish that i desired - there's life without it people - try it.

Are you not Vegetarian anymore Helen?
No I am not a veggie anymore. And I am now very happy with my new diet. tup:
I was a veggie for over a year and for most of that time I managed fine....I enjoy veggie mince dishes and veggie sausages and still have them sometimes even though I am no longer a veggie.
I enjoy food and felt the time was right to stop limiting the foods I could eat. When I was a veggie, food was a big issue. I had to be constantly thinking about what I could and couldn't eat. I had to suffer at many restuarants because they didn't cater sufficiently for veggies. This is even more of an issue when holidaying abroad. It became too difficult and time consuming.
After making the decision to eat meat again it felt as though a huge burden had been lifted and I could relax more. That may sound OTT but that is what it was like.
I did not enjoy the taste of meat to start with but that soon passed. I do not think about the meat while I am eating it; when I became a veggie it wasn't a moral choice tbh it was more out of conveinience and curiosity.
However, I now love meat and cannot get enough of it!! Sometimes wonder why I wasted a year not eating meat but I think I am making up for it now!! :D
Is that ok? :p

All my grandparents lived (or are still alive) to a ripe old age with no sign of bowel trouble - all meat eaters!!
Your arguments are weak - a moderated totally balanced diet including meat is by far and away the healthiest of diets - every single nutritional expert would back this up - you can have unhealthy veggie diets, just like you have unhealthy meat eating diets!! Not everyone who eats meat eats junk food you muppet....
Your argument is totally blown out of the water when you realise that there is not one top athlete who doesn't eat meat - you might feel fit and healthy during your 15 minutes at the gym each morning - but not everyone is a scrawny, frail old man my friend!....tup:
Like i say the only part of your argument that has basis and substance is the moral issue - the rest of what you say is in the main a load of shite!!

I'm pretty sure u can buy organic meat as well though.
Garlic Breath

Yesssssssssss you can buy organic meat but thats not my argument is it?......its still meat even if its reared on champagne and truffles....its still meat and meat is dead and decaying animal flesh.
Now tiny microscopic particles of said rotting flesh goes through your digestive system from your mouth to your anus. This is a somewhat shorter journey in some C And B members than others, and as the human small intestine is something like 22 feet long if stretched out this action can take some time.
These tiny bits of festering rotting animal flesh have a nasty habit of getting caught in the small intestine and indeed the large intestine. Now here's the bad news folks............this **** is still festering and giving off enzymes and proteins that are not very good for you.
That is just one reason why a diet beit veggie or not has to have a good amount of fiber(soluble and insoluble) to assist with a rapid transit time for the horrible, nasty microscopic pieces of decaying rotting animal flesh.
I'm not making this up......check it out on the net and see for yourself. One does not have to be Baldbantam to work it out:rolleyes: ...its just common sense to see that although there is some benefits to eating animal flesh, one does not have to consume it to have a healthy balanced diet.
I'm wasting my time and breath I know.

If you absorbed working enzymes into your bloodstream from so called rotting meat then you'd be seriously ill after every meat-containing meal.
Pancreatitis is when you release small amounts of active enzymes into your pnacreatic ducts (i.e. where they shouldn't be), which sounds like the kind of thing you're describing, and it usually ends in death.
Any proteins (including enzymes) would be broken down into harmless mono and dipeptides before they even entered your bloodstream.
Only way the meat could affect you would be if you've got a damaged small intestine, in which case not eating meat would be the least of your concerns.

In fairness though, you proclaim the dangers of rotting meat in your system but at anyone time you're a quarter full of poo, which harbours all sorts of nasty stuff.
Probably more than a quarter if you're a veggie what with all that fibre. :p

Dr No you say that we are full of shite alot of the time....Kb are you listening here. Thats why it is important to have a good intake of dietry fiber....to sweep and flush out all those nasty rotting bits of meat and yes fruit and veg too.
A diet high in fruit and veg provides one with more dietry fiber than a diet high in animal flesh dont you concur Dr?;)

Don't get me wrong anyway I don't think being a veggie is necessarily a bad thing, it is one of the most healthiest diets around, I'd love to give it a go but I don't think I'd have the willpower.
Just playing devils advocate really and I still think you can be perfectly healthy eating meat too.

I can't give us the fish but have no problem choosing not to eat meat - sp far the rest of our household look on me sadly as some sort of crank - especially when i tell them i have been talking to Prawnie about it on this messsage board - "oh you mean that pale faced balding dude with that stange fashion sense?" - says 'er indoors.

Its soooo amusing reading this thread and listening to PK harping on about his Oh so healthy lifestyle - wonder which is worse - a bit of meat in your diet, or smoking God knows how many roll ups and smoking Marijuana all day?....
I have plenty of fibre in my diet PK thanks, bowl of special k for brekkie followed by fruit, followed by an actimel and a glass of tropicana ruby breakfast, today see's tuna salad for dinner, followed by stir fry with savoury brown rice for tea - so don't harp on to me about healthy eating and what constitutes a good diet yer fool - and never, ever have i had any trouble in the bowel department - unlike you - so please if your going to preach, preach to people who are either ignorant, or don't eat healthy!!....
And "me being fat as fook" (as you put it - i'm actually 14 stone 9 - hardly russel grant weight) is nowt to do with whether i eat meat or not you ignorant ****, its lack of excercise and excessive lager drinking......its like me saying your an ugly, bald, mincing, camp twat with bad eyesight who has to wear jam jar bottom glasses because of your Roll up smoking Marijuana rich diet.....

Whilst I don't usualy agree with PK on everything, KB DID offer a challenge and then stated that he was unfit for about 6 months.
Personally if PK is a frail man and KB is a tad "unfit" then both people have disadvatages which each other could use against the other. Maybe a run up that bloody big hill in Idle could be the answer......first one to the top
