As if.

League 2 status instead of Europe. Mass player exodus due to not playing in a proper league.

If they were thinking of that they would be looking at buying Wigan or a top Championship side.

We would not even be any good as a feeder club to them and I certainly would not like to see us prostitute ourselves like that.

It's what Jimmy (or Parrot?) was saying last week.

Load of shite...

But if it were to happen they should be forced to relocate and change their name to Bradford City....Job no and no drama...

Still horseshit though.....

Looking at the bigger picture tho - the FA set a bit of a shite precedent with the MK Dons debacle, if a league club was to fold and in effect loose its league "franchise" - then i could see interest from other clubs.....
If not the old firm then surely someone like Man Utd - they could use a lower division team as a reserve/b team....
You'd like to think the football league and FA would protect against sommat like this.....but i'm sure Wimbledon fans felt the same!!

I don't think for a second it will happen, but there is one bit in there that could sound credible.

my friend has said that a member of the Gers commercial team used to work at Bradford City and that a meeting had taken place this week at a ski resort in Europe involving the bradford chairman and a representitive from Gers.

A couple of years ago our commercial manager did leave and move to Rangers - David somebody. I can't recall his last name, I'm sure Panther will know.

Also, how many Rangers fans would actually know that Julian Rhodes is currently on a skiing holiday?

The business with Wimbledon does at least give some backbone to the idea that it could be made to work with the FA, although I think relocating to a different country might pose additional difficulties.

I wouldn't totally dismiss it. Having said that, a meeting to discuss things is a long way distant from anything actually happening.

Thing is when Leeds get relegated they and they alone will be the prime source of anytake over move...

Primed and ready for it if you ask me...

I would of thought this would of been a more likely fib by the thread starter...

Leeds Rangers.....Has a nice twang to it.....:ban:

The busines with Wimbledon should not happen again. There is no precedence, the League made that clear that each case is taken on its own merit, and the loopholes within the rules have been addressed.

I heard this last week and i thought it was a load of bollox and mentioned it to a few on here.I argued a case for it being true,in the hope i could be convinced it was pie in the sky,but after reading that im feeling a bit unsure now.

As for the football league SFB,no matter what loop holes they think they have closed, their is the EU freedom of movement in buisness and football being a buisness the rules are the same.If a buisness is taken over and relocated there is nothing no authority can do if its taken to the ECOHR.

We had the Bosman ruling that everyone thought would never happen and then we had the Wombles moving to a different Town and changing their name.

Could be worse. Romanov could be after buying Bradford. Heart Of Bradford anyone?

Tony,if a club or player took it upon themselves to challenge the transfer window ruling i am sure the league would lose.Think about it Tony!!! A player may be totally unhappy at a club and he is forced to wait 4 months to get a transfer, which infinges his human rights.

This is off topic,so lets keep to the point in question.

Jimmy (Night Stalker), what about the trade restrictions on GI products (geographical Indication)? Things like Champagne etc. Surely this applies in terms of football clubs having geographical indications like their names. I think there are many routes one could go down to get to the ECOHR!

One would imagine if this ludicrous suggestion came off then Glasgow Rangers would have to become Bradford Rangers and would then struggle to retain the league place that was filled by Bradford City, especially seeing as the FA/FL would be keen not to have another MK Dons situation on its hands.

Does anyone here think it may be a good thing IF it were to happen?

just asking....

This individual situation being discussed of City being taken over and moved, not at all a good idea. It would be the absolute death of our club.

On the wider point I would have no objection to our leagues being expanded to become a United Kingdom League. Possibly put more divisions in place and allow more teams in. Seeing as we have some Welsh teams in already I think it's a little unfair on the Scottish teams that they aren't allowed to join in.

I think they should let them in if they let the sheep botherers in, either kick the welsh out or let the scottys in!

BTW i don't really have an opinion on the franchise of BCFC, i would support the club whatever.....

The equivalent to the MK Dons situation would be to rename the club GR City and relocate it to Glasgow. Would you really still see it as your club then? How many trips to Glasgow would you make?

Indeed there was BB and yes I do know that person well, however I will not be posting the name on here so as to avoid causing that person any trouble.

I will however be having a word with in the next couple of weeks, as they will no doubt be down here for a game.. I have spoken to them a few times this season ... they still get to games when they can.

So lets watch this space shall we..

Relax mate - none of the proper Gers message boards are following it mate - and every Gers fan i know thinks its as daft as it sounds....
I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago and folk off "follow follow" (the biggest Gers MB with thousands and thousands of members) thought it was actually rediculous and would never, ever support a team that took the place of another Citys team!!

Trust me - there's no way on this planet that the greatest football club in the world would ever contemplate, or even think about some daft plan like this......they don't need to!!
