Looks like Junior has made the decision to keep wethers on board until May.
Maybe just a decision made through finance - awaiting calls from Macca
IF the blades have any common about them they will make an increased offer to Macca to stay on until Warnock retires and take over at Bramall Lane.
Where do we go then - with Udders , Rotherham , Chesterfield all looking for new managers ( Iand I suspect as few more by then) it wont leave us behind the eight ball come May - when we will be a fouth division side looking for new manager ......
Sorry Mr Ritchie - looks like you wont become a Bradford Manager after all.
Good Luck Wethers your going to need all the help you can get - Maybe get Jacobs church friends to come and do some praying on the pitch pre game on Saturday.
:chatter: :sorry:

Despite JR saying he'd had over 50 applicants for the job i think this was his plan all along just designed to get bums on seats in the summer.
He's playing a risky game though if McCall decides he doesn't want the job. JR would be left totally with egg on his face.

The big risk is relegation!!
McCall wont then come and we will be stuck with Wetherall!!

If he has indeed spoken to Macca i would suggest the wait would be due to a gentlemans agreement between the pair.
Nothing back handed, in fact he would be losing even more cash pretending Macca is coming as the fickle fans of City are hopefully not that stupid to be scammed again...
Still doubt he is coming but the right noises are being heard in the press...But that in itself means nowt either...

If we go down, he can't attract anybody else to it so Wethers keeps it - he won't be blamed for the relegation because he inherited the situation.
If we stay up, then Wethers has done a magnificent job against the odds and will keep it on that basis.
Wethers is your man for next season regardless.

A bit like Robson inherited it. So we can bank on Wethers being sacked as we enter admin halfway through next season!

OUCH ...but a very valid point.
And I think you can kiss goodbye to any chance of the 10,000 pledge now.

If we did go down, I'd actually be quite interested to see what Wethers could do if he was given the chance to get shut of the wasters in the squad and bring in his own players. He's inherited this squad and he's got little to no room for manoeuvre between now and the end of the season.
There's no escaping the fact that without serious investment in the club, we're always going to be looking for the cheap option. After the heady days of the Premiership, this is hard to accept, but accept it we must and look forward to whatever the next season brings, safe in the knowledge that Todd is no longer in charge and the club has the chance to start pretty much afresh -- albeit probably at a lower level, with little financial backing, and with modest objectives. I started supporting this club in the fourth division (as was) and I see no reason why I should stop supporting it just because we've just about gone full circle. It's still Bradford City, they still play in claret and amber, and I still love the thrill of a rollercoaster ride...

With many of the signed on players either nearing or at the end of their contracts I can see a team of youth and loanees next season with just a smattering of experience... like you say, the only way out for any manager is serious investment and I don't see that on the horizon...
The future is bleak I'm afraid.

Its clear that McCall will get the job and he wants it. He will take the job no matter what div we are in cos he loves us. He wants a crack at management and he knows he will get patience form the fans here, and to be honest....I f i was stepping into management i would want to be away from the mega bucks premier league where if you go on a bad run the financial implications of being relegated get you the sack a lot quicker than any other division.
In my opinion he will be appointed manager next season, otherwise we would be appointing a new manager now...

Why Ernie???
The sounds from Macca and Bradford seem to point towards him coming in the summer...
Now whether he is in on this just to get bums on seats for his old club or not no one actually knows.
But if you read everything that is coming out of the club you can see that
a.. We are setting up to be ready to go down by not wasting cash on a new manager yet... It makes financial sense not to waste cash if you know you already have your man coming in May/June regardless of our Division
b. Wethers is believed to truely be as good an option till the end of season as any of the other candidates who allegedly applied. Something we could all argue i'm sure
c. Rhodes wants Macca in the chair.. This as we all know is his greatest financial golden egg. Whether or not that is the right choice only time will tell.
Now no matter if you think he is coming or not, pledging to buy a season ticket whilst things indicate "the one" everyone wants as manager is still potentially coming will not drop the pledge totals in anyway shape or form IMHO...
The big risk is Wethers not keeping us up due to his inexperience and lack of support from the squad....
Plus points though are if we do drop and Macca does come the season ticket money fountain will be high... Rhodes would probably get more at the normal price than he would at the lower end ....
Interesting times and enough waffle dinner is served...jump:

BUT - if macca was the ONE - why have we NOT got 50K to get him on baord now - and have a realistic push at survival.
With the Windass and JJ cash - there must be £50K FLOATING about to pay the compensation to either fight for survival OR set the stalls out for the summer ahead.....
Macca does not know the squad THAT well - and 9 games under him he would quickly decide who was staying and who was OFFski...
ANY Club that could not do a deal with the Blades for a small matter of 50K ...would you look at it as a future to dive into football management with????????????????????????????????

This 50k though, Ern, is it rumour from off here/OMB/Oddy's on a Friday night or is it fact? Who knows what the real situation is, and as far as I am aware McCall has publicly said he will honour his contract at United. Maybe it is he who is showing some loyalty to the Blades fans and respecting the contract (something not done often enough in football) and that means we can't jump in even if we had the 50k, if that is in fact the figure required. God it sounds like a counter argument in a court battle!

No its a fair point - and I have an employee who is a big blades fan - and he has said all along that Warnock rates his man managment as first class and a very suitable replacment when he does step down - which is looking more llikely to be the season after next - when they survive the premiership this time around.
ONE clear point - NEXT summer - no matter what division we are in - Macca will be given a very LONG HONEYMOON Period - which will clearly also take all the pressure off junior

Forget about the eggs, that happened when Peter Etherington pulled the wool over his eyes. I think we'd be onto him having sausage, bacon and mushrooms on his face by now.

where do you get that from ED?????
His contract is due to run out in TWO months - you saying that the compensation is running at £100K per month.
AND I would hardly say ANYONE but city are seeking his service.

Unfortunately Todd has that 50k and another 50k as his compenstaion package.......
As for compensation it is usually made up of the amunt of salary that the club has left to pay the manager....and then recruitment costs...Not some imaginary made up 5 other clubs want him
