Who do you think is the worst ever city manager?
Given the recent criticism Colin Todd has received (B4 and after being axed) who do you think is our worst ever?
4 me it has to be Chris Hutchings he was the typical Assistant that should not have become a manager....something he now recognises.........I also did not like Jeffries...especially when he would play Todd up fornt instead of Carbone and other crazy tactical decisions like that!!
What do you think?

I think it would be better if you didn't use text talk in messageboard postings, but aside from that....
I don't think you can give a fair assessment on any manager since Jewell, because every single one of them has had to battle against financial restraints and off the field distractions which have meant they have had to do the job with one arm tied behind their backs.
I would agree that Hutchins was out of his depth, but it wasn't really his fault. I don't think he for a second expected to be put in that position, and I think it was possibly Richmond's biggest mistake in doing so.
Incidentally, Richmond said that his biggest mistake was in sacking Hutchins too early and that he feels he should have given him more time in the role. If you take a look in the Centenary book that came out Richmond gives his comments on all the managers who were there during his time.

Wasn't it Nicky Law that chose to play Tod instead of Carbone?
The financial constraints since the disastrous over-reaching and over-spending at the turn of the century have crippled all subsequent managers' efforts.

Nicky Law did the job he was asked todo, Don't think he was the worst manager we've had.

I'll say it then.......Docherty closely followed by Todd.
The only two managers who made me think twice about going to watch City or doing something else.

I think the same can be said about Colin Todd. Jim Jeffries for me. He seemed too out of his depth to manage a side in the English premier league.

Much as I detest Colin Todd I have to say he's not quite as bad as one Terry Yorath.
Yorath was the absolute pits. Took a good squad, sold off the best players for next to nothing, spent a fortune on a whole heap of shite and the results under him were terrible.
Combine Todd's gobshite attitude and training regime with Yorath's transfer know how and between them they could get Man United relegated to the conference going bankrup on the way down.

If JJ had been handed the time to succeed similar to what Todd got i truly believe we would never have been relegated from the Championship under his guidance!!

Ditto this
Suffered Docherty in my youth, why I am still going to city is beyond belief after watching the millwall reserve team, as it was then............

I thought Jefferies was a better manager than he gest credit for, heard him a few times at Fans forums and he was pretty clued up on what he wanted to do and how the training, facilities etc needed work. Amazing how we still suffer from lack of fitness now!
He just wasn't given any leaway, rope or backing.
