I don't think it is fair to give Martin O'Neil much blame at all. OK he's made some bad calls on subs and tactical changes. But with him performing just one role in such a tough league with one of the richest chairmen in the country bankrolling him, it would be harsh to blame him for much. He is only a supposed World Class manager after all as well.
Main problems for me go to O'Leary. He has left O'Neil with a group of players but no team, no squad, no clarity.
We have seen the players were totally able to finish 6th and even in there worst season under O'Nearly get 45 points.
We have heard he did not focus on tactics at all.
He played players out of position constantly and had no consistency in team selection.
He had no competition for places with his favourites guaranteed a spot.
He destroyed the youth players.
He had a totally unbalanced squad.
All the other clubs in the division have had 8 or 9 months to gel. Time to get a system in place, get a set pecking order, learn everyones roles. O'Neil after spending around 15 million is trying to sort the mess out in just one season and there is no way the squad can catch up the rest at this late stage of the season.
O'Leary has to take 90% of the blame in my books.
All over the pitch Villa have had no balance and consistency.
A shambles. O'Neil now only 7 points above the drop and only two wins in 16 or is it 17 or even 18 games has such a tough task to get it all sorted out.
Englands saviour my arse...PMSFL...
A decent chunk of the squad is his now too...Bankrolled to the hilt and yet sheff utd fourth from bottom are only 3 points away pmsfl...
Cheers..
