The Italian police have attacked Man Utd fans, waded in and smashed innocent fans skulls in.

They should pull all English clubs out of the competition now and **** Platini and the rest of the anti English UEFA,FIFA cunts, this would have them in turmoil and would make them react. The English are getting battered not only by fans, but now the police.

Agree - ****ing arseholes!!

No surprise - we get a kicking off those cunts everytime England or an English team goes over there.....

While i'm quite sure the United fans aint totally innocent in this - the way they wade in with truncheons, twatting people 5 coppers onto one till blood pours from their heads is absolutely scandalous and disgusting - just like the cowardly Italian people and its fookin corrupt government.....

Hi guys--- Thursday morning here and I've just watched the last 15 minutes of the match. Nothing was mentioned about the incident raised by Jimmy. I guess I will have to wait until later today to get it on our news. I have to say though that the Caribbineri, the military style police, seem to me to be modelled on the Gestapo with uniform style and arrogance. They strut around with their guns at the ready as if they are something special. I certainly would not want to cross them. What you say Jimmy is indeed very bad and I wonder what the cause was? Cheers.

The Roma fans taunted the united fans by banging on the perspex type barrier...

The Man Utd fans then on mass stormed the perspex looking as if they would break it down...

The Police then as all Euro police do waded in to make a gap...

That's what they do in Europe...It happens in Holland, Germany Spain even France to their own fans also..

You can bleat all you want about it being OTT but if that glass/perspex barrier had gone then the reprecussions could of been a lot worse..

The Roma fans did nothing more than what is done at every ground in the country...More visible at Derby games nowadays over here...

The Man Utd fans reaction to the baiting caused the reaction of the police and some innocent fans getting a bit of stick rash instead of the pricks who charged the wall..

No sympathy what so ever....

I have lived in Germany and seen this police reaction quite a bit...Also seen it in Spain when i have taken long breaks there...

Coppers take no **** and for me that is top draw...

So Tony,if you and your son had been at the match and the Police waded in, smashed your sons skull in,you would have no sympathy for your son what so ever?

That is truly appalling and I cannot believe the ManU fans are still locked inside the ground.

These guards/police officers whatever they think they are obviously think they can behave as they like. That must be acceptable in Italy. I'm glad it's not over here. :(

My son and i would not have stormed towards that screen or started throwing things at the police...

Now it is bound to see some innocent people get hurt as the coppers try to clear the buffer zone...

If you watched it you would see that a lot of the right minded folked swiftly moved away whilst idiots pushed forward to continually taunt the police whilst others threw objects at them whilst they tried to restore order...

I have no dount innocent people were hurt in the melee but it would not of happened if the Man Utd fans had just stayed where they were instead of charging at the screen...

We have all been caught up in Police charges in our time im sure...But the reason they charge in the first place is to restore order...

Who do you think is to blame then Jimbo???

The police for doing what they would do to restore order whether it be Foreign teams or Lazio fans???

The Roma fans for doing what all fans do when goals are scored???

Or the Man Utd fans who charged at that screen in a country that takes no **** from football wannabe hardmen???

At the end of the day mate innocent people were hurt do to the mindless actions of those who charged the screens...

Tony, how many times have you seen English police act in that manner at football matches?
Even when fans have been rioting they never reacted in such a way and the police in this country have the hooligan element sussed out and it is very rare you see trouble in grounds in England.

The Ultras command massive authority over the football club of Roma and the Police, which just shows you how ****ed the Italian football League is....I dont know if you have seen the programme about the Ultras, but they even meet with officials at the club and have threatened players with violence.

It is a sad situation when a country like Italy cannot handle, what in this country would have been seen as bit of taunting, without wading in and smashing **** out of innocent fans heads..............
If the football ground had cctv and the Ultras were well aware if they caused problems they would be banged up,then this situation would never have arose.

The ultras or italian firms run vrything so explain how the police have a zero tolerance policy against hoolies??

According to the news this morning a number of innocent United fans were stabbed right outside the ground prior to the game - i suppose this was there fault for daring to even go to the game too Tony?....
I kinda get your point and to a point i agree the police over here shouldn't take **** either - but we don't deploy riot police to a football game because were a civilised country, normal police and stewards seem to be able to manage to control fans over here without having to club innocent people!!
Hooliganism in football grounds in this country has virtually been eliminated - all the countrys you mention where the policing is tougher, its increasing - how do you explain that?
All those countrys have massive problems, one of the reasons being the totally, rediculous, cowardly, over the top policing!!

You know as well as i do that English fans (rightly or wrongly) are persecuted abroad, this is yet another example.....

Tony I can't believe the bullshit that I have just read.

Last night it showed you when Roma scored all kinds of bottle and missles thrown at the Man U fans and all the Roma fans running up and smashing the barrier. Some Man U fans started to give a little verbals back but nothing more, the next thing you know and the police are cracking heads.

Man U score and their fans just celebrate but again recieve a load of missles at them, Roma score and once again a load of missles are hurled at them but the police do nothing.

One rule for one, one for another.

I know of someone who was there last night, I wonder if he paints the same picture as you Tony. Wonder if he thinks it's ok to be pelted with bottle, missles and then get charged by the police for doing nothing.

Calm down Rick - we all know tonyd now - he opens a thread, see's which way the concensus goes - then argues to the opposite!! He could argue with himself in a phonebox!!

The policing in this country is apparently not up to scratch - yet weve eradicated our problem....
The policing across Europe according to Tone is great - yet hooliganism is on the way up......make your own mind up!!

Another thing i'll add on the matter is that no wonder one of their coppers was killed a couple of months ago, just a matter of time - like owt else, they play the big men in large groups, covered in armour - different game down the side streets and back alleys.....

At the last FC Basel game last season there was a pitch invasion and the riot police started firing rubber bullets at the fans on the pitch.

Admittedly the fans were out of order (they were going toward the Zurich fans in the opposite corner) but the police reaction was way over the top.

There was a riot (by Swiss standards - a police car got turned over) outside the ground afterwards but this was all aimed toward the police who brought it on themselves IMO.

The riot police were all lined up ouside before the game which I thought set the tone for everything that happened afterwards. Their presence made me expect trouble so I took a couple of pictures (which didn't go down well with them).

In Serbia things are really bad between Red Star Belgrade and Partizan, 2 fierce rivals with back to back stadiums. They fight everyday in the City centre and around areas of Belgrade!

I've only seen a bit of footage as i was at the FC United game last night (which we won 8-0). We were getting many calls and texts about what is going on.

This is how I see it and also from a bit of experience of going away in europe with United.

Before they went out to Rome all United fans were told where to avoid in the city. United got a mob of 300 fans the night before the game and went to meet the Roma fans for a fight in one of the places they were told to avoid. a few casulties here and there but quite clearly have gone looking for it.

When you're in the ground, i know you shouldn't have to experience it but expect bottles, coins flares etc being thrown at you. You've got to have your wits about you.

When i went to Milan their fans were in the tier above us. it was quite obvious what was going to happen so i moved to the back of the stand where i wouldn't be hit.

If united fans are going to charge and that perspex fence then expect the police to come wading in. If you don't want trouble then stand well away from their fans FFS. Yes some innocent people are going to get mixed up but like i say you've got to chose where you stand beforehand (united fans never stand where it says on their ticket by the way).

There are so many dickheads around on these euro aways you've got to have a bit of brain about you. Avoid the main squares where all the other fans are going to congregate. Find yourself a quiet cafe bar and keep yourself to yourself. quietly make your way to the game and you'll be alright.

I managed ok in Prague and the same in Milan no problem yet saw loads of knobs being attacked mostly because they were looking for it.

Oh and it would help not to try and act like an english yob for one. singing in the main square is not cool or clever. what must all the tourists think of this?

be wise and keep you're eyes open.

if you want to completely avoid the trouble then don't go.

Are you just saying that to wind folk up???

I posted something simillar and that is what i was told i did by someone when i actually meant every word i said...

If you watch the film you see a large buffer zone between the fans who went to watch the game and the small group who thought it was a good idea to have a pop at the coppers...

Even after the game you see a quite amusing scene of some fat bearded bloke taunting the coppers right in their faces even after everything that had happened and can you guess what happened next to him his mates ...

Yep they got shown the stick of love many times which saw the not so big now man get shown who was in charge...

To me Matty that almost seems as if you are condoning the attack that cost that copper his life....Does that mean coppers killed in this country by druggies continually turned over by em is fair...

Just asking like...You also have me very wrong Matty as majority of the time i do not do anything for the wind up as i do not need to with alot of what is written on here..

Watch this and you will see at the 41 second point the bloke who was in all the papers for being beaten "unprovoked" by the coppers...

As you can see he was the one who jumped in bigging it up...

It shows the mine taped area crossed byt the Man Utd fans too who tried to get into the roma enclosure..

As i said before im sure innocents were hurt but it was due to the Manchester hard men that happened...

Everytime it calmed down the same few came back to taut throw missiles and attack the coppers...

Maybe in this country you can get away with that but not abroad...

For those who have seen most of the footage the guy with the blood taunting the police at 119 secs in wearing the blue coat ensured ut all kicked off again by giving it the big come on to the coppers and he and everyone around him taunting them got some....

Strange as most of the real fans had gone to the far end well away from the coppers...

All that video shows me is the heavy-handedness of the coppers. Watch the Roma Ultras as they charge the perspex screen. There's about 5 stewards who ask them to get back and they do.

The Italian police just start battering the United fans, fuelling the anger. I'm not denying there are some pricks who are just up for the fight but the hooligan element there seems very very small but the reaction seems way way way over the top in my eyes.:jd:

If those in front of the police are causing trouble and others around are joining in cheering and throwing items how do the police know who is about to jump them...

Now if you look at the 41 second point you se this guy who got attacked "unprovoked" jumping in at the coppers...

I keep saying innocent folk got hurt but it was caused by the irresponsible behaviour of the minority...

Watch the pics at the end of the game when the real fans have totally sgregated themselves from the police baiters....

Why is that????

Why do the coppers decide to go in again against those folk???

London Bantam
6th April 2007, 04:28 PM
Yeh, I agree with you that there is a minority of idiots who cause the police to react and injure innocents. But my point was that Roma's Ultras are just ushered away instead of being battered.

It's easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment when one of your own is being hit about the place by police.

The scenes we see on the video could've been helped by less zeleous policing.

english fans travelling abroad are still treated as if we were back in the 80s or something. if man u face chelsea in champs lge will their be loads of trouble?? er no. put an italian club in their with their ultras, power crazed baton wielders and it all kicks off. do we all remember not too long ago those massive riots in sicily and a copper got killed? ok we're not whiter than white and i'm sure some utd fans fancied a battle but i think we still get a rough deal and the way the coppers react is disgusting. didn't it happen at sevilla too?
