If it is, it's a desperate act by a desperate chairman to get the fans onside.
Peter Jackson is the best candidate for the job, he's available and he's managed a team in dire straits out of the bottom tier at the first attempt.
It has to be Jackson, we can't take a chance on an inexperienced manager being the right appointment in the position we are in now.

Wethers will get the job, as usual its the cheaper option

As much as I love Wethers, I wouldn't have him in charge of the Chesterfield or Millwall games. It was an easy appointment that has backfired spectacularly. We need six points out of six to even have a remote chance Wethers is not the man to inspire that shower of s*it to get them.

On another Note, Andy Richie got a good result this weekend.

I was pig-sick when I saw that the TB's had got Ritchie, and early signs show that we should have made serious moves to get him ourselves much earlier. I'm with Chuckle on this one -- Wethers is a nice guy and has been a good servant to the club, but I don't want to see him in charge next season. I don't care who we have as manager, just so long as he's THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE JOB. And to my mind, Jackson fits the bill.

Another day goes by, and yet another potential City manager slips through the net...

I hope to God that there's a lot of activity going on behind the scenes that we're not aware of. But I'm not holding my breath.

Peter Jackson fits the bill on two levels
He knows the area, local clubs and therefore cheap buys...
He also still has contacts within the agent network - more cheap options.
he will do a good job as city boss when he gets it next month.

I cant see PJ (Jacko) wanting to stay in the bottom league for long -- so it would be a good choice

Am I the only one wondering what exactly Peter Beagrie would do for this club if he was made manager? I mean, like Wethers he's a nice guy, he's funny, he was a class act on the left wing for us,... but apart from being player-coach at Scunthorpe, his credentials don't exactly scream PROVEN QUALITY at you, do they? Of the options open to us just at the moment, I'm still tempted to go for Jacko. He has management experience with a certain amount of success, he also has a history with the club, and as ernie said, he's got a lot of contacts in the game at the right levels. Funny, thinking back about a year I'd never have imagined saying I wanted Peter Jackson as City manager...!

Beags' Coaching role at Scunny was more a figurehead role to pay him more than the maximum wage he'd be entitled to as a player. He was nothing more than the bloke who handed the bibs out and put down the cones.

As i mentioned earlier, it will be Wthers if JR is in charge but it should be someone like Jacko or Keith Alexander with Div 2 experience

Wethers wasn't the man for the job when Todd went, He's not the man for the job now and he won't be the man for the job next season and beyond.

He could make a good manager after he has learnt the trade --
He was given no chance -- not really his fault -- there was no-one else in the team that had his experiance -- let hope he doesn't loose his passion for City

Jacko for me. He's the only choice.
Wethers is not ready by a long shot. Needs to follow the McCall path learning his trade the sensible way. And a man of intelligence I don't doubt he will be thinking the same himself.
Beagrie? Do me a favour. Coaching staff maybe but manager? No way.
Notable mentions to:
Sinnott - could be a decent assistant, has the non league knowledge base and has had success at Farsley.
Dream on:
Macca... still number 1 choice but looks like we've missed the boat.
Dolan... would have liked him here in some capacity but not as manager. No chance now though.

i can't believe sentiment re wethers. this guy has been mr city and model of professionalism for seasons and we can't give him our support????? ok we are down but who would have kept us up with this pile of dross????? you say we didn't try or perform v leyton o, it's not all to do with wethers. when will players be accountable? we were crap before wethers and on our way down. if i was wethers reading this i'd wonder why i'd bothered putting in my all for city. i wonder if the same people here were booing jewells first season at city - remeber 5-0 away to crewe anyone???? good job we didn't send him packing and gave him the following season.

I think sentiment is the only thing stopping Wethers getting a right slating to be honest Skye. The man is a legend and an ambassador that has been a credit to the club every single minute he's been here. But as a player. Manager material he clearly isn't.

Skye made a good point...I mean who'd have given Jagger the job after he took over a struggling team towards the end of a season?
I know the circumstances couldn't be further from each other but i think its wrong to pass judgement on Wethers managerial ability, could he have started it in any worse circumstances?
Im not too impressed with his line up, choice of subs and lack of using them during the game but he's got a lot on his plate ffs :(
Working under JRs stewardship would hinder any manager tdwn:

I think given time that Wetherall could turn in to an excellent manager for City, and I'd like to see him given the chance next season.
Turning a losing team around is a bit like turning the Titanic. It takes time and space - it doesn't just happen from word go. We've just started to see some of the fruits of Wetherall's changes - 5 points and unbeaten from the 3 games prior to the Leyton Orient match, and the first half of the Orient match we were very unlucky not to have put it beyond reach.
Wetherall has been generally unlucky with the bounce of the ball, and he hasn't had long enough in to have time for that luck to even out. As with every manager since the Premiership he hasn't had a fair chance because of the financial restraints and general difficulties that the club has faced.
One of the major problems of the game of football in general, and at City in particular, is that managers are not given long enough to change things. Short termism is everything, and that is not an intelligent way to proceed.
