Lee Richardson has been appointed manager of relegation-haunted League One side Chesterfield following a spell in temporary charge.
Richardson had been placed in temporary charge until the end of the season following the decision to sack Roy McFarland on March 12, but the former Spireites midfielder has now been handed the job on a permanent basis.
Richardson, who saved Chesterfield from the drop during his last stint as caretaker boss in 2003, has been unable to arrest the club's alarming slide down the table and the Blues will be relegated if they fail to beat Bradford at home on Saturday.
He said: "I understand I wouldn't be the most popular choice but my honest opinion is that I'm the best man for the job.
"I'm young, I've done my shift in terms of training for the job and I've got a burning passion for Chesterfield which I don't think many managers would have. I also know what the players need and I know where we can go.
"I'm not the best self-publicist but I am in a position where I would like to be given the opportunity. The idea was always that Roy (McFarland) would move on at a time of his choosing and I would take over."

Wouldn't it be bizarre if McFarland got the job at City, with him being the last manager to get us out of the basement division.

Or is it 'McB*****d' as my dad still refers to him (he's got a long unforgiving memory).

Still known as MacB*st*rd in my house as well. Mainly due to going to Derby away aged 6 or 7 and wondering why all the grown-ups were so angry and why they were saying naughty words.
