View Full Version : Well Done Rhodes.

Whilst under no illusions that Julian Rhodes is solely responsible for our shocking demise and drop through the leagues, I have to hand on heart congratulate him for the masterstroke he performed in appointing Stuart McCall as manager.

I never thought it possible that Rhodes could sell the club as an attractive possibility to anyone, never mind a legend ready to embark on a career in management. For the first time since he took the biggest gamble on the club's survival, with his fraudulent second Administration, Rhodes has at last done something that can potentially halt the freefall he has plunged the club into. I will not show him gratitude for this, It's desperation to get out of the last chance Saloon his ineptitude has got him in that has finally made him realise that he had to do something spectacular to save his hide but with what he has done with getting Stu, he's pulled it off in style.

I do not give Rhodes a clean slate for this, he's ****ed up his own clean slate too much to do anything to deserve my trust or recognition of him as anything other than a buffooon who's got where he is through no hard work whatsoever, but now he has given the fans something to smile about for a change, he has to ensure that Stuart has the tools to do the job.

Stuart will have an extended honeymoon period and that is just as well because if Rhodes makes him carry on where Todd and Wethers left off there will be no upsurge in performances or promotion/play off challenges. Rhodes has been given a gilt edged chance to get him a slice of the adulation what he so enviously saw Richmond get during the glory years. Rhodes is more stupid than even I credit him for if he thinks that the job is now done and he can sit back and receive the plaudits for this appointment.

Stu's appointment has to be the start, not the end and wether there is new investment or not, Rhodes will have to find something from somewhere to give Stuart a head start if he wants our stay in Division 4 to be a brief one, vacating it from the right end of the table.

If he sends Stu to the shitpool and Stu ahs to grind out the results through dull uninspiring football, unlike Todd, it won't be McCall that gets the brunt of the fans anger for a long long time, it'll all be focused on a target not legendary or invincible, it will go to the architect of why the last four years have been dull and uninspiring...Rhodes himself.

So Junior...you have saved your skin and if you can convince me that there maybe a light at the end of the tunnel, which I have to say, you have by getting McCall, then there is hope. Just don't be as ****ing stupid as you have been and **** it up!! You've had the likes of Todd and Etherington to hide your **** ups behind up to now. This time you have to contend with ensuring the most legendary player ever connected with the club has a smooth shoe into the managers hot seat, a man who is bulletproof in the eyes of EVERY single City fan alive. I hope the bravery you have shown in doing this finally rubs off into your ability to do the job and helps you to halt and turn around the almighty mess of your own making.

Thank You Rhodes and Welcome to Stuart...a living legend!!

Well what would you call confirmed?

When he's signed on the dotted line and the club officially announce it. Remember that Wrexham player?

Do youi think Rhodes would be really stupid to make sure that it was "leaked that McCall and Jacobs were coming back to the club? What a way to lose the faith of the fans if it's not true

I think were it not fact the club would have come out and said a decision had not been made and they haven't made a final decision yet, which they haven't done.

I agree with you to an extent Chucks as i agree if it goes wrong it wont be stu in the ffiring line, however i think it will be the players who will be blamed for not performing under stu, before Rhodes starts to get the flack.

The players were more to blame this season than Mr. Rhodes or Mr. Todd IMO.

I think it was half and half to be honest. I don't think JR's aspirations were high enough (ie he never believed we could do well) so he never encouraged Todd to get the full potential from the players, so Todd never had the confidence in them to do well, so the players couldn't be bothered either, which means they never performed. Someone like Stu (and I hope we haven't been led up the garden path) will be passionate about the club and will believe that we are capable of doing more than Rhodes or Todd ever aspired to before. I hope this will give the players more confidence to go out and perform.

That is a great point and I think just having someone like Stu who bleeds Calret and Amber in the dugout will rub off to a certain extent. However Rhodes cannot rely on that fact alone, he has to help Stu to do the job and bumbling along with fingers crossed like he has been doing won't be enough.

Getting City back up a couple of divisions needs to be a team effort and if Rhodes thinks that this will be achieved solely on the back of the feel good factor Stu's appointment brings, then he might as well have not bothered.

The way I see it... the same players which looked like promotion certs before the home game against Hudders suddenly reverted to looking less than ordinary.. why?.. because Jackson sussed Todd's game and then Todd went back to defensive minded tictacs becuse he didn't know what else to do.
So yes you can blame the players to a certain extent but Todd was the architect of demoralisation which carried on through Wether's short stint.

And if that "demoralisatioon" continues with Stu at the helm, who will you blame?? Stu??
