I just wonder if the Council realise how important to the City of Bradford the success of their football club is.(yeah I know there are the Bulls but with success City can leave them behind). If I was mayor(or is it still Lord Mayor? ) of Bradford I would be right in there behind City in promoting, helping out with grants, training grounds ,youth programmes etc etc. When the local football team is going well,it rubs off on the whole City.Think back to Liverpool in the 70's,L***s,and other cities, when the teams did well when the economy, unemployment etc was not good, the public had the football to focus on. Stu is on the fringe of possible greatness here and he recognises both the challenge and the possible(probable?) future great rewards ahead.
Bradford just might be a great place to be over the next few years. Enjoy the ride. Cheers.

Relegation? What relegation? One day the club is dead, the next last season's mishaps were the best thing that could have happened to the club.
Onwards and upwards with the big man in charge. So much to look forward to, who would be anything other than a City supporter right now?
The Macca bandwagon is going to roll and roll and roll and the sooner the council (and local businesses) wakes up to the fact, the better for EVERYONE in and around Bradford.
One man doesn't make a City? Tell that one to Stuart McCall.

I can see us making a quickish return to the Championship, riding on the crest of the McCall wave and the impending new financial input to the club - the council will hang on the club's tails then giving it big - at that point they should be given the elbow and shown the way to Odsal tip unless they repent and actually value, financially, the impact a succesful football club can have on the surrounding district.

The council can go get fooked fooking lakes outside the city hall waste of money.
This is the start of something good at VP but no doubt the shitheads at the town hall will to be part of the parade once we start doing well again.

To true they will be out of the woodwork when the opentop bus is dusted down again.
Looks like the local business side, is starting to take notice. BfB reports that Morrisons are sponsoring Midland Rd and would take over the stadium sponsorship if Intersonic dont pay up.

I agree. The mayor of Bradford is also Asian. What better way to showcase a club ripe for investment and further support from his own ethinic community,by backing the club. The City of Bradford must share the same marketing and PR department as Bradford City. It hardly needs spelling out.

Thing the new Mayor is from Bingley and non asian for a change!
Off thread, but I think with the "grand schemes" for a over sized pond and gardens in the City centre and the lack of investment in outlining areas (where the majority of council tax payers live) it is about time that Bingley fought for independence from the City of Bradford council.
Politics over..... McGod is back and everything is looking up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the council won't fund bradford city as it's a 'private business' surely??? i don't know how it works. i could imagine uproar from other areas stuggling themseleves. plus the fact they'd be investing in the passtime of the working people of bradford, now they won't do that will they?

If by some miracle we get a double promotion back to the Championship im betting right now that Rhodes will be after a new stadium and that the council will entertain the possibility because were a good club again, of course they'd only demolish Valley Parade and then the company would pull out before they could build us a new one.

Why would we ever need a new stadium? What is wrong with VP?
The most sensible thing to do would be to demolish the surrounding area and build out around the ground to regenerate Manningham.

Best to leave the council out of everything. Look at the hole in the ground that is the new broadway shopping centre. When it comes to projects the council is out of its depth.
Demolishing the moneypit that is Manningham is the best way forward.

Manningham will be regenerated with european and private funding - City belong at VP.

The benefit of a sucessfull football club to your economy is massive. Recent estimations made are as fololows by A Cardiff council looking at what they could do to help the club.
this was based on A Team Sustaining A Mid Table Position In the English Premiere League
Approximately 390 full-time jobs created in the area through football operations alone.
Approximately £9.5 million gross added value to the local economy.
Most employment opportunities would be created in hospitality and catering operations. The report estimates that over £4 million would be generated in Cardiff workers pay packets, in addition to Football Club wages.
Although not easily quantifiable, crucial assets of wider economic impact will be the potential for city marketing based upon the coverage and visitation consequent upon premiership football. This says it all...what above is not worth fighting for if your a local council. Back your team and the return will be repaid time and time over.
