Err, How are the club supposed to inform him if he's had his mobile phone off?

At the end of the day he probably should have had his mobile switched on. It doesn't take a genius to work out that the club may try and make contact that way.

I give up so the club is in the wrong because he had his mobile off i give up

I think the point is that it shouldnt have been released to the press until the player had been informed!

Do you not think the club tried to contact him then?

They didnt try hard enough did they?
They obviously didnt leave a message on his phone as he would have picked that message up before the one from the 'other manager'!

The way the article reads suggests MBW wasn't available to be contacted by City or other clubs, we can only assume City tried to inform him that we weren't going to renew his contract. If that was the case, then I believe City acted correctly in letting it be know publicly that MBW was avaialble, thus giving him the best possible chance to get fixed up with another club, as proven when a rival manager had already left a message on his mobile.

So what do you think if they had left a message on his phone he would have come out a cried about it..

We HAD to realease the retained list...we did not release it to the press. We ahve to do this as part of FL rules so its is impossible to avoid....Anyway he was treated how he he played...like SH**

So lets see he is moaning because the club didn't tell him.......but he has admitted to not having his mobile switched on.

So with the wages that he gets I assume he can't afford the roaming charges, the place where he went didn't have access to the internet and also didn't have British papers.

If you were not sure if you were going to have a new contract and the decision will be made at a time when you are on holiday, then you would make sure your mobile is switched on. I'm sure that he wouldn't have wanted to know that he no longer was a player by answer phone message or text but for someone to talk to him. His fault that people couldn't tell him

Well I think it is appalling.

When he is on holiday Pob, he has every right to turn his mobile phone off. And why should he want to check the internet??

The fact is, he was not informed directly by his employers that his contract was not going to be renewed. They could have contacted him and left a message, as the said manager was able to do.

This is not about how well he played, or didn't play, this is about how to deal with staff, customers, suppliers etc and unfortunately BCFC do not seem to do a very good job of it. tdwn:

The other manager contacted him by text message - that's about as informal as you can get so I can understand why City didn't do that (if they had sent him a 'ur fired' message by text he would have been moaning about that too).

You can't leave voicemail on a phone that is switched off so that was out of the option. Obviously they couldn't phone him. The only other feasible way to contact him would have to sent an e-mail, but who's to say they had his address, that he would have been able to check his e-mail on his jollies, etc. etc. And you mentioned that he shouldn't have to do that anyway.

It's infortunate how it's panned out but there's not a right lot City could have done differently in this case.

That way It could have :poo: on him while delivering the message that he was sacked!...It would have been quite apt really considering the "effort" he and others "put" in this season...tdwn:

Is that not a contridiction?

We tried to contact him - he had his phone switched off - had we left a message on his mobile that would have been just as **** surely?

We had to hand in our retained list - by FL law, he was on holiday when the retained list was handed in - i don't see the big deal!!

He obviously wasn't that bothered about his future at the club or he would have checked himself - i know i would have done had my future been in jeopardy, its nowt but sour grapes from a very talented player who couldn't be arsed rolling his sleeves up and fighting - like most of the rest of the squad - good riddance!!!

Storm in a teacup - he aint happy - so fookin what, no-ones happy when they loose their jobs, maybe next time when his future is being decided he might make himself available for contact - like the rest of the squad did....

It is up to the employee to make themselves available in this type of situation, not sure what the club were supposed to do. He should have been leaving contact details, hotel or wherever he was staying so they could contact him.

I was interviewed for the job I am in now, and promptly went on holiday, but I made sure that I rang in and emailed my employers to let them know I would take the job, so they could inform the other candidates.

I agree, and to be honest it shows how much he wanted to tie up loose ends himself before he went away. If he was so bothered about staying at City he would have made more effort to be available and get the lowdown before he went away. I wouldn't have gone away knowing my job wasn't secured, or at the least I'd have had my agent dealing with any loose ends and left my phone on.
