A good professional performance. Best England have played for a while IMO. Nothing too flash, we did the job. Never in any serious danger of conceding.
Ratings:

Robinson 6. Had nowt to do really. Saved Ledley Kings arse in the 1st half, nearly let one in at the end.

Brown 6

King 6

Terry 6 None of them had anything to do. JT was alert at the end to kick one off the line.

Bridge 7. Some good runs down the wing and involved in the first goal.

Cole 6. Took his goal very well but thought his all round play wasn't that great.

Gerrard 7. Did everything asked of him well.

Lampard 7. Did ok tonight. Some good tackles defensively, linked up well in a congested midfield and popped up in the box.

Beckham 8. Made 2 goals and always wanted the ball. Nice to see him play through the pain knowing it could well be his last England game.

Owen 7. Took his goal well, movement was good and always looked a threat.

Crouch 8. My Motm tonight. Took his goal well, won loads of headers tonight and put them near his teammates! Also dropped deep at times and linked up well. Was a good outlet in the 1st half when we were still at 0-0.

Subs....no real impact!

Good performance all round! tup:

it's a step in the right direction but we will have to improve to break down the likes of russia etc - alan green kept going on about how they'd only let 1 goal in or something. the radio commentary said king had a bit of a mare in the first half but otherwise steady away

Fair do's a win's a win but you could get a chimp to manage England to a victory against that lot.

No pressure has been lifted from McClaren, the acid test are the games against Russia and Croatia. On those performances he will be judged not tonights.

i just saw our goals, they were on briefly after extended highlights of faroe's v scots (incidentally, the faroes took em to the cleaners second half, they had terrible luck and should have got a couple). anyway, class assists from beckham. the crouch goal was superb, the cross brilliant and a great finish from crouchy made to look easier than it was. joe cole took his well and owen's was decent as well helped by beckham of course. he's made mcclaren look even more of a tit now and it's a shame he's coming to the end of his international career if this kind of form was to hold out.
