Why do City always seem to play full backs that insist on playing the ball down the line

Better than the goalkeeper just booting the ball into touch, like city use to do

Thats the job of the full back, either put the ball out of play when needed or play the ball down the line to the wingers. It's better than lumping the ball upfield expecting Cooke and Windass to header everything!
