Anybody else think we should bring these back? I'm thinking we should have these at the end of the season in the "odd" years, ie, the years when there are no Euro Championships or World Cup.
The only negative I can see are the hooligan element but surely in this day and age we should be above that.
The positives are huge IMO. I would suggest a straight knock out tournament between us, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland. Randomly draw it every year...first out of the hat is at home, winners of the 2 semi's toss a coin for home advantage and maybe even have a 3rd place play off. It sounds good to me because it would be like a competitive friendly. It would also get the players used to playing in semi final/finals for England and that can't be a bad thing.
Anybody else got any positives/negatives before I pitch the idea to SKY and make my millions?

I've said this for years. Even in the "odd years", it'd be an ideal warm up for the actual tournement for England, playing pre tournement games against teams desperate for our scalp. I used to love the Home Internationals when I were a boy, they were never played like friendlies and the England vs Scotland game always guaranteed a full house and a game played in a highly charged atmosphere.

It will also be very luvcrative for the national FA's - so we can continue to pay Ericsonn and the tw@t we have in charge stupid money as wages.

FA Meeting.

Chairman: It's been suggested that we resurrect the Home International Tournament.

Official: That's a great idea!

Chairman: So that's a NO then.

I used to love the home interationals.
Like someone said, they wuz not friendly in the tru sense of the word.
Supporters and soccer players from Scoterland, Irerland and… erm?… that other place.. were really up to beat Engerland so there wuz always lots of passion in the games. No airy-fairy european style, negative, play for penalties, diving garbage.. no sir.. it wuz blood and guts Engerlish football at it's best.
Engerland versus Scoterland wuz always the pinnicle though… we just have to remembers to cement the goal posts in at Wemberlee.

They would see a return of the passion that is missing in todays internationals
For me I would love to see a return of them -- I went to see us play Scotland at Wembley many moons ago -- packed crowd, great atmosphere and a week end in the smoke :)

Without a doubt....for a start Northern Ireland are still the last official "British Champions" :poo: Its about time we put the rest of our 3rd world cousins back in their places!! tup:
Never gonna happen tho - too many people in high places opposed because of the hoolie problem - sadly!!..:(

From a fans point of view it is great but the players are beginning to plqy longer and longer seasons all the time. They are alwasy very klnackered after normal season, dint you see what Gerrard was saying the other day??? Dont think the players would like it too much....also it would get pretty boring when england won every year....:D :D :D :D

The main stumbling block is the English FA, who cant see what they would gain; they can sell out England games against most opposition and would only be the England team up for humiliation.
I've always thought that a home international U21 tournament would be good idea and the winners could represent GB in the Olympics.

Completely agree about the Olympics, we shouldbe getting our GB team together so we can go down olympics when it is in london

I dont want to see it return at the moment for fear of losing as we are such a poor team at the moment and would hate for any of the others to beat us.

Would like to see the odd friendly though

It'd only be 2 games! Not much to cry about. In the years when we have a tournament to go to, (hopefully!) the season will be even longer!

similar reponse to KK :flame: ! but even if they were tired, it would be a very sad state of affairs if they couldn't muster up that bit extra reserves to play for their country! it would be another good step bringing back the HI tournement (which i don't remember seeing previously due to my tender yrs) and would be another great PR step to go with the players saying they'll play for free or was it their wages going to charity? if it came back it would be brilliant if we could win, i think i'd have to escape down the M74 if we dared lose to the bloody scots thoough
