I suppose KB might be able to answer this..........

I was reading about the Rangers/Celtic rivalry and i just wondered who traditionally supported Partick Thistle and in earlier days Third Lanark who in their time have been decent clubs without ever touching the old firm.

Are they neutral from any of the sectarian stuff?

Ask any normal fan and they'll say that apart from Gers/C*ltic - Hearts/Hibs and Dundee/Dundee Utd that the rest of the clubs up there are free from sectarianism - but they're not, a minority of fans from all clubs up there pin their alegiance to one of the old firm and their traditions......

Partick Thistle and St Mirren are traditionally known tho to be completely impartial and to slag off both the old firm equally - if that answers your question....tup:

Im not sure if it was Third Lanark,Vale of Lanarkshire or even Vale of Levin, but they were one of the most successful Scottish clubs, they went 3 years unbeaten and won a number of titles.

Sort of, do they have a supporter base from a particular area (Partick itself???) and how do the old firm view them?

Not 100% sure, the problem with owt like that is if you ask a Ger regular they'll claim that they have a soft spot for the Gers - and a C*ltic fan will say the opposite - very difficult to get a straight, honest answer on anything like that up there!!....:)

One thing i do know tho is that the 1st Protestant football club wasn't Rangers - but Queens Park, who formed from the local YMCA, and the 1st Catholic club wasn't C*ltic - but the Hibees who formed from their local Catholic club.....the Jambo's were even exploiting the Protestant fanbase before Rangers were!! C*ltic were originally formed as a charity to keep young, scruffy, bogdwelling immigrants off the streets.....nothings changed much then eh?....:D

i never see anybody like that

partick fans i met a few yrs back were sound. the pub was 'basic' (but with state of art TV screwed onto the crumbling walls!) but welcoming to the city fans, the pub on the opposite side of the road was different with cops cars hanging about and as we stepped foot out of the taxi a right chav (and i'm sure he had 'gers colours on) asked quite openly if we were bradford and if we were there for a fight. nice. obviously not reflective of all gers fans before i get clobbered for that! the partick fans like i say who we had a pint with were sound though i think they are struggling these days.
