Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has been confirmed as Manchester City manager.
The 59-year-old has signed a three-year deal worth a reported £9m - and is set to be given a £50m transfer kitty.
Didn't he scam enough money out of England???

He gets a load of stick, which is unwarranted in my opinion1 He will do well at man city - his record at club level holds up with the best of them! I think that man city will get into europe next season if he can get the signings he wants in time!!!jump: jump:

He's still getting my yearly salary EVERY ****ING DAY from the FA as part of the severance package! I personally don't like the guy and never have. I would say I hope he fails miserably but I don't think Man City fans deserve that!

I thought that stopped when he got another job and didn't it drop to half wages after 6 months?

He'll do a good job for them simply down to the fact he's a good manager. England are paying the price for being too hasty with the axe. We'd be home and dry for Euro 2008 were he still in charge. Sad thing is, everyone knows that, but the Sun said he was ****, so it must be true.

Do you think we'd be struggling to qualify under Sven? Yes or No

No, simply because he wouldn't have ditched Golden balls and we'd have sneaked a few more goals/wins from his set-pieces ;)
I doubt we'd be struggling to qualify under a host of competant managers, unfortunately McClaren isn't even that tdwn:

He is a great manager, Englad would already have qualified like chuck says if sven was boss. THose who slam him as underachieveing as England boss should look at teh record books and review his record over the years compared to other. Think you will be suprised, it was a media thing that got him sacked before the touney, just like when Robson was sacked before the tiurnament... Mark my words, we may qualify for the euros under mclaren, but he will embarrass us on the big stage....massively!!!

Although i did want Sven sacked, i never doubted that he was a decentish manager, just not good enough to win England silverwear. He'll do alright at Man City, The Sun will continue slating him for the moment but will offer up no apology when he does well with them. Trouble with the Sun is when it comes to football they express the opinion of the average 40 year old glory supporter who sits in the pub watching Man U on the TV never having been to a game of football in his life.

The reason he failed with england is becuase he fails to grasp the english game - he was trying to get us to play the slow european game rather than the high tempo fast throttle premiership game - i predict this will be his downfall at man city once again..... what an overrated pile he really is

The reason he failed at England is that he had a set of players who were just simply not good enough to win the world cup or european cup. England is at best a quarter final/semi final team.
Hopefully he'll take man city to where they belong - the championship.
