I have just found out that my other team, SOUTH SHIELDS FC have been drawn against Thackley in the FA VASE on september the 8th the day after bradford play lincoln away.
If any one was at a loose end on the saturday why not pop down to thackley play the mighty shields, and add a bit of revenue to both clubs coffers.
South shields are putting on a bus for the match as well so there should be a fairly good atmosphere.
AHHHHHHHHHHH COME ON I KNOW YOU WANT TO REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think most will be watching the england game to be honest.

I'll be watching FC United but good luck in the Vase. We were in that last year and it's a great competition to be in.

I think they play all their games at Kingston Park, home of the Falcons and Newcastle reserves anyway. If you do decide to go to the game give yourself plenty of time as the ground is in the middle of a middle class suburb and is an absolute nightmare to get to on a matchday. There is a huge Tescos and other retails outlets (Comet, Mothercare, Matalan .etc) close to the ground but the road network cannot handle the retail units alone, nevermind the rugby ground as the road from the A1 just isn't capable for the volume of traffic it handles (god knows how it all got planning permission). On a Saturday or Sunday there is just complete gridlock in the area, and that's just for the retail area on it's own even when there is no game. Also being in the middle of a housing area you cannot park on any of the streets anywhere near the ground and Tescos have spotters in the car park making sure that people aren't parking up and going to the match. You may be better parking up elsewhere (Gosforth metro station has a multi-storey which is always quiet) and going on the Metro to Kingston Park.

Very much doubt we'll be driving. Is it easy to get to and from Newcastle City Centre before and after the game. Also any recommendations of any decent boozers would be a great help.

Ask JP about pubs, he lived in Newcastle for a few years.

The best way is to catch the Metro from the city centre, it's on the same line as the airport.

There are no pubs of note around Kingston Park, apart from Twin Farm which is more of a food pub and a Toby Carvery which is by the A1 roundabout. You're better off either going into Gosforth (about 2.5 miles or 5 minutes on the metro) or boozing in the city centre. Gosforth is similar to Bingley, a long row of shops on either side of a busy road with 6 or 7 pubs well worth visiting.
