Could this lad provide cover for the first team, he's signed a pro contract.

He's very highly rated outside the first team. Been a reserve team regular for quite a while now so for L2 I don't see why he should not provide cover. I just wonder if he has been concentrating on RB or CB as we have far more cover in the middle. Also his physique is much more suited to a full back.
