Yes Ernie we do!

Has the player budget been reduced?

With going on for 9k season ticket holders and it being boosted probably in the last week there will be still be some holding back. The player recruitment at the moment is hardly going to encourage people - thinking twice. Gelling the team into a team capable of challenging for a play off spot is made more difficult the later we sign players. Hope we are not going down the route we took last year as taking players on loan disrupts the team, prevents us developing our own players / younger players signed. Players who may bring us in a transfer fee at some stage.
The other problem is that some will not watch the team if it struggles because of quality and depth - and will pick and choose from the S/T book. As a result crowds (actually attending) will be down!

I do find the recruitment strategy a little frustrating to say the least (no lessons learned from last year!!?)- we saw what recruiting late and taking on a large number of loanees did to our cause last year. The fact one took the player of the year is an indictation of the poor quality / performances of the permanent squad.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Stu and Jakes will allay my fears after kick off - as I am a little pessimistic at this stage of the close season at the moment.

I feel that its a good thing some of the trialist are being let go -- shows that Stu does not think we are desperate -- and as yet we haven't spent to get players in (maybe we cant) but there are always some decent players for sale

There's still a large amount of un-attached players, including some from the premiership, championship and league 1 shitpool that we can shop in ;)

Mallorca - good point hopefully that is the case - rather than them asking for wages we cannot meet within the overall budget. However this is leaving us with a shorter time to come out of the blocks running as a team that can compete and keep the new season ticket recruits wanting more.

Nobody wants to come to City for the wages City pay. The feelgood factor of McCall is only felt by City fans. It means **** all to a player weighing his options up and seeing he can get more elswhere than a recent Premier Leauge club who now offer Unibond Standard Wages. The fact we are losing out to teams like Cheltenham, Notts County and Chesterfield for players says it all. Lawn said his investment means we can now up the standard of recruitment to build a team capable of challenging for promotion. He lied, simple as. That's why all this talk of a new dawn isn't fooling me for a minute.

Excpect the same standard of results and performances of the last few seasons next season and it won't be down to Colin Todd or Nicky Law, so get your McCall Out banners made.

And there lies the problem, we aren't a recent premier league club, we are a club that has died on its arse and somehow been resurrected twice over. Hence why we should not be lulled into thinking we have any right to command massive wages budgets or to attract players simply because we are Bradford City. Take stock accept our lot and move on from here.

Could not agree more we are where we are - can not change it

Learn to live with dross and anything slightly above it makes us smile. - and think we are at a better level than we are.

only you could come up with that one.

Personally I am looking forward to the new season, lets face it anything is an improvement on the past few.. :D

Promotion is a plus (even though it has been mentioned in the press many times) its survival and moving forward thats the key imho !

Stu on radio beeston indicated there are plenty of prem teams willing to let players come = presumably on loan Villa, Everton some of the teams qouted. He stated he needs to get around and see players in action to see if any which ones can slot into the squad, postions he wants. Looks like we are following last years strategy - no leesons learned then. Hope it is in our favour this time............

I'm not so much concerned with having loaness in the some roles i.e not in the spine of the team and less than three playing at once, but more concerned about the fact every player seems to either under 21 or over 29....I think this could cause the problems
