Is it possible for City to cancel any of the half year loans before January 1st?
If Thorne comes back soon then Joynes will be 4th choice striker and we'd have Osbourne as cover for them 4 plus various other options in Rhodes, Daley and EJ.
If Ainge or Bentham start at RB next week then that would signal that Harban is not rated by the gaffers.
So personally I'd be looking to cancel both loans and put the extra few quid savings towards permanently signing a decent RB.

i think Harban will start next week - Ainge might over time possibly make a right back but he's not there yet when Harban is already.
And I would definitely send Joynes back but I think these could be the pair that Stu was offered for free. Cos I don't think we'd be paying for them otherwise...defo in the case of Harban which was arranged before Williams signed

Didn't realise we signed 2 loans for free. So we are not paying any wages for them?
Well in that case... I'd still be tempted to send Joynes back, and Harban if he's not in the starting squad next week. They would still be taking up valuable places in the reserves.

i don't know whether that's gospel truth. Just that Stu did say he'd been offered some lads for free and I've put 2 + 2 together nad may have made 5 but it seems somehow more plausible that we're not having to pay Harban or Joynes

Why cancel the loans if we aren't paying their wages? We don't have anyone like Joynes in the reserves (height or skillwise) and Harban should play on Saturday as Ainge isn't up to the job yet.
Don't criticise them till they've played a few games, Macca has shown by putting Medley in he isn't scared to blood youngsters if the deserve it.
I bet everyone before the game would have put money on Joynes getting on before Medley

I do agree Wisey but Joynes has had a lot of minutes on the pitch and has shown nothing in any of them. I'm not usually given to being harsh but he's an incoming player from another side who is not better than what is already around the club - Medley showed more in 15 minutes than Joynes has in all the preseason friendlies and matches he's played.
And that includes Luke going at the top of some random 4-5-1 formation that somehow managed to make the midfield invisible but at the same time see him have a couple of really good chances

I think Stu follows the same philosophy as Warnock in that you can never have too many strikers - I reckon this will be the way forward for us - with some of these lads also able to play elsewhere - still not sure that EJ should be in midfield but he's now got Phelan and Nix vying for places - makes for interesting times compared to Turd's system of his favourites getting in and fek anyon else.

I'm not writing Harban off however if he's behind Williams, Ainge/Bentham then Stu has pretty much written him off and I'd send him home and try and get in a permanent right back to push Williams onto the bench.
As for Joynes... the pecking order is Thorne, Dave, Conlon, Medley with Joynes in in 5th place. With Daley, Osbourne, Rhodes and EJ all at the club then I see no need having Joynes here on loan taking up wages and meaning somebody is going to miss out on valuable reserve team game time.

Harban should be in front of Ainge & Bentham though, he's a natural RB and Joynes will definitely be considered before Osbourne at least as squad selections have proved
