Who would you go with or who do you think Stu will go with?

Stu doesn't think the game is important (or at least has hinted to that effect) so I think he'll be taking advantage of that to try some players out and give some much needed minutes to the likes of Thorne.
So here's my pick:
GK: Saynor (Don has a niggle again and Ben needs the experience)
DL: Lukey (Needs a good 90 minutes in the first team)
DC: Bower (capt) (To please the FA)
DC: Clarke (Needs first team football)
DR: Ainge (Give him another try at full back)
ML: Rhodes (Coming back from injury)
MC: Bentham (Keep him fresh)
MC: Penford (Needs to impress)
MR: Colbeck (Deserves and needs a full 90)
FC: Thorne (Coming back from injury)
FC: Medley (Needs a first team start)
Subs:
Joynes (As sub for Thorne as he will not be playing the full 90)
Sharry
Taylforth (In case Rhodes can't make the 90)
Harban
Osbourne (Can cover RM and FC)
Think that's all the bases pretty much covered, no sub keeper but not needed for this game.
I suspect however maybe that Ainge might play instead of Bower with Harban at right back, with Bellamy coming in on the bench. But that's just a guess.

Just noticed the reserves have a game on Wednesday... that's a bit of a pain in the arse and rather poor planning by the league. Especially when we are playing again on Friday. Still, doesn't change my pick of team.

I'm pretty sure the rules state you have to play a certain number of first teamers, hence Todd was kicking off when Scunny didn't last year.

Only Saynor, Taylforth and the 2 Luke's have no first team experience, the rest all have.

It goes on this seasons appearances in the first team though, most of them have been restricted to reserve games so far.
That team may be OK as Bower, Ainge, Rhodes, Colbeck and Medley have all featured but most of them have been subs and I don't know if there's a set amount of time they have to play in the first team to be eligable to play in the Tinpot.
EDIT - according to the rules, teams must play to their full available strength, or risk a fine. The full available strength is decided by the board of the football league.

Will be interesting to see who gets the nod for this one - a few are desperate to feature and this is the game to give them and keep others on their toes.

This competition means nothing even though it ends up at wembley id rather not be in blood some youngsters and those that need match fitness.Would have Bower Left back to see if it would work in this division and Daley is shite at crossing the ball/finishing but feel he would be a good overlapping full back.Should give Osbourne a shot as no other fecker seems to be able to score up front
Saynor
Daley
Bower (lb)
Clarke
Ainge
Colbeck
Phelan
Bentham
Taylforth
Osbourne
Thorne
subs: Rhodes, obrien,Nix,Penford,Conlon(just as punishment wouldnt bring the useless twat on )

Yep. And our first team lost to Scunthorpe Reserves. Well worth a rant from Todd:rolleyes:

Think this is the perfect oportunity to give Medley a start and get a better look at him, see whether he has the potential of offering a genuine extra striker option or just a long term sub. Him and Thorne up front. Perhaps give Osbourne 15 minutes too.
Colbeck a run out, yes I suppose, if it helps build his confidence up, and supposedly he is starting to improve......
Middle of the park I think Penford and Bentham is too weak as a starting combination and would favour Bentham, Phelan, with Rhodes back on the left.
Defensively give Ainge and Clarke a game, and Saynor in the nets, if he has a bad game it might hit home we desperately need another keeper.
Although its the Paint Trophy and its tempting to put a weak side out esp as we are playing on Friday, Stu might take the view that 2 defeats on the trot is not ideal preparation for Lincoln and play more of a first team line up than we expect.

I think we should boycott the bloody tournement. We are far too big to be wasting time and risking injuries for a Mickey Mouse Cup like this!

If we could then I think we would. Second best is to throw in the fringe players.

It shhould be a rule. If you've been in the Premier League, you should have the option not to play in it!

I think Scunny were fined £5k for the team they played against us last year! Depends whether Lawn is willing to risk playing the first team or is happy to part with the cash really.
Ricketts has a knock so seen as this is 'Tin Pot' then that rules him out, so I'd go with....

I think it is worth a 5k fine not to play a full XI. A potential injury is potentially worth more than 5k.
But... with the team I listed, Saynor would qualify due to injury to Don. You could not play the loan guys due to them being on loan. And most of the rest of the spots are being filled with players who have taken to the field for the first team with the exception of Thorne who's been injured and Bentham who you could argue is filling the spot of Evans who's injured.
So really even with my second string team you would argue against the fine.
Totally disagree with playing Wethers. He's an old man, there's no way anyone would play him Sat, Tues, Fri. That's just crazy.

It depends what the FL define as 'full available strength' In my opinion we could get away with playing 2 or 3 reserve players maximum, but like you say it's probably best fielding a weak side and if we get fined then fair enough at least we rested our first teamers!

Well it's just the stupid thing because we are playing again on Friday. I know pro sportsmen should be able to play 3 games in such a short space of time but they would just be going through the motions tomorrow. Look at the interviews coming out of the club. Everyone is focussing on Friday and not a mention of tomorrow aside from Stu's "it's one we could well do without".
I can see some of the reserve players playing Tues and Wed but I can't see Stu fielding anything stronger than what I listed above.

Looks like a full strength team will feature at least 5 changes...
So Clarke, Ainge, Phelan and one of Bentham/Penford and one of Saynor/Loan. Harban will definately get another chance but I'd still like to see loan players Dave and Hecky rested and give Luke and Lukey a chance.

am i the only one a bit cynical about those injuries we picked up on Saturday?
Illness, stiff back, dead leg...
I'm sure we'd never try and deceive the footballing authorities though

Can you blame us though with a match against the holders just 3 days before a league game whilst Lincoln have a free week having been given a bye
