So far I've heard that :
he is having trials with liverpool
that the club can't get in touch with his club.
that the club have got in touch with his club and they want 55k
that his wage demands are outside of our capping system.
Did anything get mentioned about him last night? Seems strange that his wages are so big (or our cap so small) considering he is relatively unknown and only worth 55k.
At the moment, its thinking about willy coming that is keeping me happy at the moment - oo er missus. He might be crap, but at least it gives us something to be optimisitc about!

The Liverpool thing was a wind up!!!.
His club want £55k in compensation but Lawn thinks its over the Topp (no pun intended) and is trying to negotiate. He's still training with us, wants to sign for us and according to Lawn on the radio, its just a matter of being patient whilst they try and work something out. He said Stuart definitely wants to sign him.

The Willy saga goes on, but am I having a bad day or does this not make sense
*Quote*
Lawn claimed that he and co-owner Julian Rhodes were willing to pay for Topp themselves because Stuart McCall has used up his player budget.
Right, so if he is that bloody good, you are willing to pay over the wage budget to get him, why, oh why, are we not willing to pay a fee of £55k for himjawdrop:
Its not alot of money in footbal terms / or maybe it is to a club in our position but surely signing a player of his supposed quality will be a financial asset to the bloody club:( Beam me bloody uptdwn:

Typical of City at the moment, short term blinkered vision. The lad is an international ffs & Chile are a decent side (3rd in the SA qualifying at the moment) not Bongo bongo land ffs. The lad is a potential saleable asset

Im sure ML and JR could dig deep  and fund the move, any profit on a future sale would reap them their money back with interest methinks ;)

Agree with you both, but why make a song and dance about it, keep it quiet and sign the f***** up instead raising his profile without him even kicking a ball in anger in this country

Sounds to me that Lawn has realised that 'certain players' (Wethers,Bowser & Ricketts) are not worth their Championship wages!!

"We are somewhere between the third and fifth highest wage bill in this league "
Is that all, what with them Championship wages I'd have had us the top wage bill. Wethers has a longer contract because he took a pay-cut when we came out of admin (allegedly) and it was offset by an extension of the contract, so he earns the same as he would have but to aid the Club it is over a longer period.
What was better? When the Club said nowt or now that we are privileged to have someone at the helm who likes to talk to the press about anything and everything by the looks of it.

The supporters trust should do a deal with ML and JR. If the fans raise 25k for topp, then they shud put thee rest of it towards. Thats only £2 per season ticket holder, and if he is going to score goals which god help us we need, then it would be a good £2 spent

We've already "donated" 20k that no one seems accountable for ffs! :(

no u dont have to sweep their drivewways, you can just carry on bitching on a messageboard about what SHOULD be done instead of actually doing something to help. we might not like ML and JR, but they have put more money into this club than anyone here. If id have put as much money into this club as JR, id be pretty pissed off that no one was grateful that id put so much money into keeping a dead end business afloat for us lot

Smart business, there club won't see Willy as a massive player they've let go to make money out of, and Lawn is trying to lower his compensation...Instead of paying the initial fee.

Why can't the board see that all they have to do is get hold of willy, expose him to the masses on tv and then milk him for all he is worth! Fnarr fnarr. :flame:
Seriously though, 55k should be able to be raised somehow. Speculate to accumulate - even if we do a loan deal with a 55k purchase at the end of the season, or 50% now, 50% when he has made x amount of league/international starts. I'm warming to the idea of each season ticket holder paying £4 or something - but what happens then when we sell him for £1 mill? There should be a clause that al profits from the fan bought player are put straight back into the transfer kitty or decided by a board of supporters.....what a can of worms that would be!
