as Wetherall, Bowser, Ainge & Colbeck are the only players contracted after the end of the season.

Bowser & Ainge have a bit of hope for the future, but Wethers should have been put to grass 2 years ago and Colbeck had Halifax written all over him on his debut!

If Wethers has any professional pride, he will surely realise this is his last season as a player

Why now? Why would he?

The thought of them playing next season has me rushing to Valley Parade to renew my season ticket already!

I don't think Bower or Wetherall let anyone down on Saturday - continue like that and I will not complain.

Its just Beers latest scapegoat ;)

I mean, how many goals conceded have been Wetheralls fault this season?

The same people wanting him dropped are the same ones crying for him to be back in the team when Ainge looked like a little boy lost at the Rotherham away game last season

Yeah, the odd person having a go at Wethers are doing so because they've heard he's not playing well. Drop the fecker, then we really are in trouble. He's more than competent at this level and thankfully Stuart seems to agree. Fact is, he's surrounded by **** and having to steer a ship witha crew that's not up to it, so with this in mind I'm grateful for Wethers' experience, because if it wasn't there, then folk really would be whinging.

I've seen every home game Chuckle and the feckin Torrey Canyon turned quicker than wethers.

In the air he's superb but his legs are going and he won't last much longer. The fact that Bower is just as crap on the ground compounds the issue.

Add to that a toothless midfield and a confidence shot keeper behind them shows the problems at the back.

I've been to every home game and quite a few away ones and have yet to see a Wetherall mistake cost us a goal.

I admit he's slowed down in the last few years but he still does a good enough job for me, couldn't give a fcuk how much money he's on, is it gonna make him a better player if he was paid less?

Making him a scapegoat is insane when you have had the likes of Ricketts, Heckingbottom, Williams, Bower, EJ all making huge fcuk ups this season that have resulted in the other team scoring!

.

But that's been the same his whole career. The Wethers you no doubt used to have kittens about had exactly the same strengths and the same weaknesses. He's just having his turn as the USBT (Usual Suspect's Blame Target) and you seem to have been taken in.

Not making him a scapegoat, i've said, he's almost unbeatable in the air but as the grounds get heavier his lack of pace will be shown up even more. All i said was he should consider making this his last season as a player

so we pay his final season contract 08/09 for doing sweet fa then?- mind you he could be an asset for the club commercially.

It is his fault we are in this mess. If he hadn't scored against Liverpool.........

Nothing new about Wethers being ****, and no surprise that the people who choose to defend him had self imposed exiles last season and didnt see hardly any City football - or Wethers inability to boot!

Just tell me again how many of the goals we've conceded this year have been the result of a Wetherall error?

Im not saying he's great and he's getting past it but he's still more than capable at this level over a season.

Who will incure your venom when he goes?

To my mind, Wethers didnt win **** all in the air in the second half on Saturday, despite him being one of the tallest players on the pitch.

Saying that, Wethers justifies his place in the team for his experience alone. I know we arent the most organised but just imagine how disorganised it would be at the back in his absence.

Maybe a sensible solution would for him to be substituted back of the second half when his legs start to get heavy. On Saturday that proved to be around the 60-65 minute mark IMO

He's not the best but he's the best we've got at the club at the moment IMO.......If you went to the Rotherham away game last season which we lost 4-1 with Ainge deputizing for Wethers, you'd have seen how much we missed him that day!

Most of those wanting him dropped before that game and now were the same ones wanting him straight back in after that drubbing ;)

Funny that aint it?

Like i said at the beggining of the season - Wethers & Ricketts wont be in the team come xmas - & i'v seen nothing to change my mind, Ricketts is already dropped & McCall just needs the balls/excuse to drop the captain!

Who's gonna replace him then?

Ainge? ....good prospect but not quite ready yet.

Clarke?.... roflmao: he'll get injured tripping over the whitewash as he steps onto the pitch!

Like I said, until we get anyone better were stuck with him!

Why aren't you campaigning for Williams, Bower and Heckingbottom to be replaced?...they've all been worse than Wethers this season tdwn:

Williams & Hecks will be gone at Crimbo - unless their form dramatically changes.
