Brave move or big mistake.....................................
Carson gets the nod, james on the bench and no place for Robinson
I know alot on here have championed carson but my choice would have been Robinson for this game, If we qualify or fail, the time to change should be after this game...........
We will find out shortly..............:flame:

I agree.
Bridge has been a bag of wank so far. Cost us the 2nd and I dont think he has completed a pass yet.
I fail to take anything positive out of this game other than Mclaughable will be sacked come tomorrow morning and we can look to appointing a manager who at least knows his elbows from his arse

FFS If robbo had been in net tonight he would have taken the blame full stop. Not a Bloody mention of Scott (not good enough for liverpool) Carson..................
They (the bbc) still even blame him for Gary nevilles back pass in Russia.....Hung out to dry...........

Carson isn't a bad keeper in all honesty, BUT tonight was not the night for him - it should of been James!
You don't put a young 22 year old in that kind of position.
Let's hope Robert Green steps up to the mark now.

Carson made 1 big mistake but kept us in it with 3 good saves the reason for losing is the fact we were **** and have been for the last 2 years

Fair enough but James should have started. I feel sorry for Carson to be put under that pressure

Harsh to blame Carson for that game. McClaren should never have picked him in the first place. It wasn't the right time or place for the lad to make his debut. The current form and experience of David James should have meant he wore the number 1 shirt tonight.

Well Howarth kept him out of the reserves.
Ricketts keep's him out of the first team.
Now we have a Thai International signed until the end of the season - who I'm sure is meant as number 2.
I've more chance of playing 10 league games for Man Utd than Saynor does for city.

Not blaming carson, but the decision to play him in such an important game...
And I stand by my comment, if that was robbo he would have been hung, drawn and quartered....................

The managers team and tactics were wrong --
But also many of the players let him and the supporters down by not turning up

Firstly when the best keeper in the country hasnt had a game for England in a couple of years it is pointless moaning about Robinson or Carson...
David James is miles in front of both of these and has been for the last two seasons at least...
Easy to shout donkey James, Calamity James etc but week in week out he shows himself to be the best...
As for others last night again the blinkers are flying...
Carson... Made a couple of reflex saves had a shocker with the first gave up for the second and looked shakey through out...
Richards... Looked ok and linked up well with both Becks and SWP...Still the best we have..
Campbell... Should still be in the First team alongside Terry for me...Kept the defence together and made some great tackles..
Lescott... Did hardly anything wrong as far as i saw...Also had to cover for Bridge..
Bridge.. Had a shocker linked up badly with Cole..Normally he is a better defensive defender than cole but his distribution and defending was shocking.
SWP... Again did little wrong apart from the fact he is two foot and a tab end tall..Due to this it made it impossible for him to win all the crosses Gerard and Cole wasted flighting balls into him instead of Crouch..
Barry... Sacrificed to chase the game and as we got back to 2-2 without him it proved the right choice. Shocking at corners unable as a £80k a week footballer to get the ball past the first man..Unforgiveable.
Lampard...Now im not going to comment as it just seems that i was watching a different game and blokes have his number mixed up with others on the pitch.. Had the balls take the pen whilst other shirked..
Gerard...Did he make a good pass last night??? If that was Italy playing last night i would have put a bet on he threw the game...He was after Bridge the worst player on the pitch for us.. Im sure some will try to say i am biased due to my spat with Dave over Lamps and Steve but watch the game again...He had one of the worst games i have ever seen him play...Wasted every dead ball..Ive seen sunday footballers take better dead balls..
Cole..Mostly ineffective due to poor support from Bridge...
Crouch.... Worked his socks off and for once it was others who let him down by delivering poor quality ball either into feet or to his head.. His goal was very well taken.. I felt sorry for him after all the work he put in..
Subs...Defoe...Caused problems straight awy but never saw enough of the ball...
Becks...Did very little different from SWP to be fair...Apart from the telling cross that saw Crouchy score... He of course gets the plaudits from the press..
Bent..One chance and took it well shame..
The tactics were right with the balance of the squad played ...Croatia just got lucky initially with a shocker..Up till then England were by far the better side...Then the quick second a lovely goal btw saw any chance of a great performance disappear...
After that the first half was a shOCKER.. Defoe got the penalty and Lamps took it..If he had missed the countries morons would have destoryed him but at least he had the balls to take it...If it had been Gerard last night i reckon it would of gone out of the stadium...
Becks came on and we scored to level it up...Why then didnt the last sub come on ie Hargreaves and we shut up shop to hold for the draw...That is tha part i do not understand...
Ahh well a nice relaxing holiday awaits next year... Just have to wait for the well experience Ian Holloway to take over now as England Manager with Terry Dolan as his Assistant...Both now available and with the FA's record both in with a great shout...

Why Tony did you pick Carson in YOUR team
Because if Robinson Carson, Green or 15 others were injured Macca would not field James...
Everyone on here knows i think James is our best Keeper and should still play..I have taken flack for it for ages...But the proof is in his performances week in week out...
I said on the OMB the other day Rednapp must be chuffed to bits he has the best English keeper who will not ever get another game.. Why??? Look how Robinsons confidence has been shattered by one mistake against Croatia where it was totally out of his control...
Till then he was rock solid one blip a game maybe... Now he is a total flapper...
Rednapp knows James is a God at Portsmouth and the fans love him knowing he is still one of the best in the game...He gets no abuse so has no pressure..
Robinson goes to every ground now and gets slated by away fans as well as home fans when he makes the slightest blunder...
Not getting picked has made James better than ever for his club and everyone can see that..Why doesnt he then get picked?? Cos Macca is a joke as an international manager...
Maybe he should have started shagging Baby Spice....

Thought stevie g was one of the better players in the first half...you could tell his passion and commitment, worked his socks off
Second half, he was shyte....mainly cos he was playing alongside one of the most unpassionate and frankly (yes a pun) awful players ever to have the honour to play for england......appauling decision by mcclownren taking barry off for a system which is proven not to work
