wow - some brave (and sensible decisions) by Macca. All of us wanted it - but no one expected EJ to be released. Feel a bit sorry for Bentham and Penford - although they have been here long enough to prove they are worth it. I thought Hopkins had potential - especially now Wethers has gone. And wtf are we gonna do for keepers next season?! :)

ML said we need about 5 players -- now we need 13 -- looks like there will be an influx of squad players

Can't believe EJs gone!

I think it was the only way we could get out of EJs "Play If fit" contract

I cant really argue with the list though, looks like were clearing the decks to bring a better calibre of player in tup:

Exciting times ahead I feel.

Exactly what I said he should do Feb/March - well done Stu. Looks like the midfield is to get some major changes. Happy for Nix - not too sure about Conlon though - has some good attributes - but struggles to get forward when we break quickly, does not win enough in the air or find the back of the net too many times.

I'm a little suprised Bazza has been offered a new deal but other than that I'm very happy! tup:

He offers something "different" and holds the ball up well no matter what people say about him.

Add another Keeper, a Left sided midfielder and striker to that list ;)

well done Stu - a proper pruning has taken place - and I don't really disagree with any of the decisions - let's hope the season tickets are now sold to give him a decent budget for 08/09 - we need a squad of 20 1st team players to have a real chance of auto promotion - that does not include young untried loanees.

Wow, didn't expect that!!! Stu shows he's ruthless and means business though.

Again, can't really argue with any of the decisions although like others, i'd heard that Hopkins was highly thought of

Im delighted. Stuarts got it dead right in my opinion. Lets just hope he gets in who he wants now, and roll on next season!

Wow, you dont make decisions like that without a Plan B do you.....

Keeping the nucleus of the main playing squad is good thinking and leaves certain places to be filled and getting rid of the scraps

Midfield and Defence should be new lookish, plenty of squad players required in all positions

The re signing of conlon/medley signals he may be happy up front with Thorne and co, considering we havent seen much of the chilean wonder, will we really need a new striker??????

Looking forward to the rumours and the signings, Lets hope the places available are not filled up with loanees:(
The only load signing i would like to see is loach, but then a permanent keeper would be preferred

Medley is only 18, scores regularly for the reserves, is developing physically (he looks bigger and stronger than when he arrived last year). He is still raw but there is something there for Stu to work on.

There is an amazing amount of different opinions on here and the OMB but i reckon more agree than disagree apart from the OMB EJ pant creamer club!!!

It looks like being an exciting few months for rumours and possible signings

I still think we'll need a proven goal scorer. The only thing that worries me is Thorney getting injured and missing some of the games like he has done this season.

I also wouldn't mind a loan signing or two. Just look at what Turner has done at Hereford, but having said that I'd also like our players to be our own. I wouldn't grumble if we had a loanee of someone like Theo Robinson's talent 'tho jump:.

Happy with that, except for the Conlon thing but I'll get over it when he's edged out by Medley for most games :P

Our squad was apparently too big anyway so I think 5 first team players should be signed and then a sprinkling of squad players.

I heard Ronaldinho is up for sale at the end of the season, perfect timing Stu!

Nice one Stu, spot on!!!

Without any signings the starting 11 could look like this....

GK ???
RB ???
LB Hecky
CB Clarke
CB Bower
RM Colbeck
LM Daley
CM Nix
CM Bullock
ST Thorne
ST Topp

Now on paper that looks half decent so throw in a few quality signings and we're rocking!! jump:

not far off but half of those in the "starting line up" would struggle to make the bench in the sides of those that went up this year

Good one for keeping barry! fully reserves it, is a good player despite the opinios of aload of neanderthal city fans!

Pretty happy with that, as long as Barry isn't draining the budget too much. Is Joco already on a deal for next year?

Well unless he's planning on putting Conlon in midfield i hope we see a new conlon!! I'm more than surprised he's offered him a new contract. I accept peoples points about his strengths but as a striker he's poor. Yes he contributes to alot of goals but if were looking at promotion he needs to be scoring them too something he just hasn't done this season. He's had plenty of opportunity to prove himself and for me hasn't done enough as a striker.

WOW !!!!!!!!!!

That is all I can say.

Well done Macca. The only surprise is that Hopkins did not stay on as backup RB but then again Bellamy is now a first year pro so perhaps he fills that void.

Delighted for Lukey of course. Here's to a summer of signings... with the wages released by these 13 and the drop i wages for the likes of Thorne, Hecky, Conlon, etc and the release of Evans, EJ, Ricketts, etc I think Stu can bring in 7 or 8 players of varying calibre.

Stu has been brave and I am really really starting to like him as a manager. A brand new dawn is on the horizon.

Can't believe Todd got Eddie Johnson over Luke Beckett a proven goal scorer, what a clown!

I agree with all the released players except Williams I thought he could do a job.

I had a funny feeling Eddie would go. Stuart gave him once last go up front in his natural position and he didn't do enough. Rhodes is to light weight.

Bit suprised about Bazza but he has improved as the season has gone on. First few weeks of season he was garbage.

Plenty of sighnings to come then. jump:

I'm definitely no Todd fan but at the time Beckett was having a lot of knee problems, that might be one of the reasons

Little shocked that EJ went, but i cant complain about any of the 13 really.

Would have liked hopkins and phelan to be given a 1 year extension though, Cause they are only like 19, and i think maybe deserved another chance, Hopkins for the potential, Phelan for his effort.

penford and bentham......about time they went, at 22 years old they should be 1st team regulars if they were good enough.

Cant understand him keeping taylforth though who hasnt really featured this season.

Well glad that Nix is staying

why are you shocked about EJohnson ffs? - he's contributed little in reality, considering the wages he was on - was it 12 goals in 70 odd appearances ?
