Macca said it was a short term deal he'd been offered. Does that mean month by month, 3 months or 6 months????

oh dear, not a fan of his to be honest. wouldnt have offered new deal. wont knock the guy's hardwork but he just doesnt look like he's ever got a goal in him. concedes too many free kicks, continuously offside, surely must be a better option out there somewhere
wouldnt have offered new deal. wont fault the guys commitment or hardwork but you need more than that. concedes needless free kicks, always offside and never looks like a goal in him. also he's a bad omen 4 times he was brought on with 5 mins to go when leading or level and 4 times conceded a goal!

MarkG welcome to the Boards!
I disagree, Conlon has improved, has got goals, is a perfect foil for a poacher like Thorne and will do well at our level.

The short term deal is : "If you don't score a goal in the first month, you're out". Ok, so its not that - but I hope the contract is heavily goal bonus based.

I'm quite pleased to be honest. I doubt he'll be first choice and he can cuase problems with his height. I think what some people need to realise is that the wages on offer for a back up centre forward isn't going to be great so i doubt we'd attract too many takers.

How many goals were from open play SFB? I am in agreement with MarkG. However we have to leave the call to Stu as only he knows what the completed jigsaw could look like - if his signings come to fruition and who knows Conlon may get the rub of the green and get enough goals in open play to contribute to a little success for City. At least we appear to have a strategy unlike previously - when is was last minute.com and we were looking at the scraps with an odd decent signing/loan signing added.

I refer you to my honourable friend mr tonyd and his argument about Shearer and his goals tally. It doesn't matter if the goals are from set pieces or penalties, goals are goals are goals.

I must say, i thought Bazza was a right crock of **** up until he was playing for a contract. But to be fair to him over the last 2 months or so, he's been one of our most consistant performers.
With him, Thornio & Topp we already potentially have good options upfront. McCall needs to pick the right type of player to be a 15+ goalscorer alongside Thornio who will get his 20!!

Weve offered him a one year extension on reduced terms - which he's pleased to sign - thats a few players now who have proved their commitment to the club by taking a paycut, can't fault that - i wouldn't do it in my job - would you?
If he aint taking up a big chunk of the budget, which i'm pretty sure he aint then he's a useful squad member who i'm glad to have on board!!

SFB - were you confident him taking the penalties! I was not!
Shearers penalty record was second to none - did see him miss one against Blackburn in the League Cup though.

Of course! I never watch penalties anyway, ever since Beagrie's one at Molineux.

come on be honest - we would miss the comedy factor of him coming on with 10 mins to go and his headless chicken and barn door / banjo impressions are worth the extra year - on reduced wages......
Give the guy a break - he is the jim Davison of the football pitch.

I must agree with him here....altho i am no massive conlon fan he does give his all and i love the BARRY BARRY BARRY chant, dont know what id do without the comedy genius of bazza on a sat... One minute hes bringing down the ball on his chest and controlling it dead like drogba, next minute he has the shooting ability of diana ross:-

Wasn't Matt Le Tissier the all time king of penalties? Scored all bar one in his whole career, that was saved by... think it was a Forest keeper. 48 from 49 has to be an unbeatable record?

Some record that from a special talent - a great footballer to watch - Dutch.
