That's the trouble BBB, there are too many people that are far too happy with mediocrity because they are still brainwashed with all that "lucky to still have a club", bullshit. This season has been an out and out failure and before the cloned sheep jump on me, that is the words of Stuart McCall not me. The biggest crowds of the division week in week out and the shite on show leads to an offer of even more freebies to bribe them back next time, an offer already doomed to failure. If the Rhodes maintains his 100% record of failing to improve on the previous season's league position again next season, I'd like to think questions will finally start to be asked, but reading the drivel on here, other message boards and in the local press week in week out, I ****ing doubt it

Chuckle, I agree that one would expect more, but what exactly do you suggest? We have no money, whether you include the fee for windass or not. We cannpot speculate to accumulate not only because of the lessons learned from big geoff's weeks of madness but also because in any event I doubt Lawn or Rhodes have the money to put in or would want to and we can't borrow from anywhere as our credit rating will be as poor as the football on show at times.

My personal view is, Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm not saying be happy we have a club but at least be happy that we aren't knocking on admin's door at the moment and we have the opportunity to build. McCall should know this level better next year and should be able to have a good go at it. He was too naive and over ambitious in his enthusiastic proclamations of promotion or bust, those of us who have some nouce didn't take what he said at face value.

Come on, give us your master plan.

At the end of the day we've won as many trophies as Liverpool this season so were in good company ;)

I've enjoyed this season TBH....Ok we haven't finished as high as some fans and the club wanted but only a complete fcukwit who doesn't even go to the games would say we haven't progressed, in fact our form since New Years day proves it.

Like SFB says, Rome wasn't built in a day and hopefully we will be challenging at the top end of the division next season, however how hard that would be for some so called "supporters" of this club to take.

Its not all rosey in the garden but things are also happening at the club that shows were gradually turning things around financially now that JR has surrounded himself with the likes of ML and Baldwin, proper businessmen tup:

Roll on next season!

Personally, i'v found this year to be my most enjoyable in years.

Some great away games and more goals & chances than you can chuck a fish at - long may it continue to improve!!

The important thing as SFB hinted at is is stability. Put some firm foundations in financially -if possible - get things right behind the scenes. From there if we can see progress on the field in the type of player being recruited and results - I think we can be happy.

I still think we need another person in the boardroom - who is prepared to part with a significant sum(s) of money to act as a catalyst - otherwise we are going to have to accept - progress will be slower than we like.

True; sm has had a season to work with the players we had, and overall we have improved
as the season progressed, and now with the clear out,& some new faces coming in,and
injury free players back for the start of next season, I feel a season ticket or two in order
for the new campainge tup:

Got to admit as frustrating as this season has been, I am quiet looking forward to next season.

The mistakes have been made and as mentioned, club stability is a bonus

Nothing wrong with that, misplaced optimism is optimism none the less.

However the original post was on about the season just gone, which was a failure (Stuart McCall circa July 2007)

We know what he said Chucks but credit to him half way through the season he admited so.
Still our form after xmas as been excellent and with the rid of some shitpool players and hopefully bringing in a better quality of shitpool player should see us a least pushing for the playoffs jump:jump:jump:jump:
Face it Chucks for the 1st time in years this club is going in the right direction slowly yes but it's getting there jump:jump:jump:

This season has only been a failure if your only criteria of success was achieving promotion. McCall set the bar too high with that, and I for one never thought that it was realistic.

However, for the first time in a long time we have financial stability, we have people in charge who know what they are doing, we are finishing with form that gives some hope for next season, we have a manager who the fans like and who has had a season to get used to things, we have a realistic budget for next year and generally things are looking up.

For the first time in 7 years, I think we have a realistic chance of promotion next season. I'm reckoning play offs, and then you need a bit of luck to win through.

Mark Lawn isn't everybody's cup of tea, but him and Dave Baldwin are very, very sharp, and they are both City fans through and through. Julian Rhodes has pretty much handed over running the club to them, and that's the best thing he could have done.

There is genuinely a lot to be positive about at the moment.

I see nothing so far since this time last season to indicate that we will improve on this season next time. Re-signing Barry Conlon is a major indicator that there is nothing available to bring better players in and it's the poor quality of playing squad that is preventing success. The 13 Player Cull was more to do with cost cutting than making room in the squad so cudos to Baz for taking a pay cut and cudos for all the effort he puts in but sadly, he's shitpool and for optimism to be turned into actual success, that's the kind of player City should be looking to leave behind alongside cramming the squad with loanees getting their wages paid elsewhere.

But, like I say, mediocrity is so acceptable within the Stands at VP nowadays, everybody will enjoy themselves next season whatever. To be honest, I'm actually envious of folk who can be so easily pleased and persuaded, it'd make it a lot more enyoyable I suppose, but at the end of the day, it's not for me. But good luck with it Gaz all the same.

I haven't predicted promotion in any season over the last 7 years Chuckle. Whilst I haven't been as vocal as you, I've pretty much agreed with you about the overall running of the club and the direction we were headed in.

But, credit where it's due. If the set of 'shitpool' players we have had actually started performing at the start of the season rather than 3 months in, we'd be in the play offs now. We have played with promotion form for the bulk of this season with the players we have now. Whilst there isn't massive cash about, that squad will be strengthened over the summer and the play offs are not unrealistic.

So getting rid of 13 under performing players is classed as cost cutting ?

They have gone because they had under performed no other reason.

Why the hell would you keep a player on if he was not worth the money :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Chuckle, I'll have £100 with you that we will finish in the play off spots or better next season. Not necessarily that we will gain promotion - the play offs are a bit of a lottery - but that we will finish 7th or above.

Just maybe Chucks, most fans dont go for the glory and promotion campaigns but go just because they are Bradford people who want to support their club?

If they wanted glory they would follow a Prem team like Liverpool, errrm well maybe more like Man Utd

Of course we'd be happier If we were higher up the Leagues and getting relegated guts me everytime, but like i say historically were a lower division team and thats what older fans like you and I have been used even before JR walked in the door!

Thats not to say we shouldn't want or deserve better but we're turning the corner both on and off the field however hard that is for you to take.

Take your JR hating specs off and get yasen a season ticket, who knows you may even enjoy it? ;)

I will have some of that too tup:

Just remember Chucks, if you had taken up my bet last season when you were predicting a lower half finish and me a top ten place, you'd owe me £200 now. :)

So I'll match Baldys bet, £100 we finish in the top 7, surely you'll bite our hands off with your pessimistic view of the club?

Or daren't you put your money where your mouth is?
