Lets hope he comes back fully fit to show what he's really capable of. We have a potential star on our hands if he can get a real run in the side

Interesting to note that we have the option to extend by a year.
However i can understand why there is some speculation, given he has just got a new agent and only has a year left on his contract at city!!!

Too right. The club has been made to look pretty foolish today in the national media for having to rubbish a stupid internet rumour. I think they should have just left it as a stupid internet rumour, but there you go.
Personally, Topp's still an unknown quantity, but I fancy him to do a great job with a full pre-season behind him and the pressure off.

He's still got the best chant. That's a good enough reason to keep him.
Ohhhhh willy willy....

A good enough reason to keep him is he's going to be amazing next season.

I don't know, I wonder if Topp's role will be to track back, don't even know where he's going to be played.
I can see him being the creative midfielder we desperetly need, but more of an attacking creative midfielder, who gets goals too.

He was apparently back in the country yesterday. Hopefully the club will scotch rumours by having a picture on the website of Billy in the new kit - proof of the pudding an all that.
I'd like to see him play just behind the front two, or a Rooney role just behind the lone striker.

I'd just like him to live up to a small amount of the expectation City fans heaped on him before they even saw him kick a ball. Which he hasn't so far.

Troubled by that muscle condition it was no real surprise - hard enough for some overseas players without that added problem.
I'm really hopeful we will see the real deal now - he's not got a lot of 1st team experience but what he does have is that match winning quality - if he really takes off we may as well enjoy him for the season he will be with us.

I really don't know how he would fit into the system behind the front two. McCall is almost certainly going to play four across the midfield. I think Topp has got to play himself into the side, where, is anyone's guess.

yep - but at the moment, we have two wingers, and not a lot else in the midfield. Put Bullock in the middle of Daley and Colebeck/Brandon, and have Willy playing just in front of him, with the two full backs given permisson to get forward, and we've got a nice attacking option from midfield. But...as you said, it will be 442, and Willy either plays as striker, or looks to come on with 20mins to go to win games. Waste of a potential talent if you ask me - but then again, no player is bigger than the team.

That makes a fair bit of sense. However, McCall has said he wants another central midfielder, which would rule out Topp playing between midfield and attack, unless we go with just one up front.

I agree with Tallinn, he is another candidate for the hole behind the front two where he will have plenty of space to work with. We should be looking to utilise both him and Nix in this way, with Bullock behind them and maybe Brandon being given a bit of a free role.
I'm sure Stu has a fair picture of how his team will look next season. If he gets it right we could be a force going forward, no doubt about it.

He comes with high expectations, why they are so high I don't personally know. I for one hope he lives up to those expectations because if he does it could be the difference between us staying in this god forsaken league for another season or getting promotion

I don't see why?
We were in promotion form for the second half of the season and willy hardly got a sniff.. now McCall is strengthening I don't see why we should be a one man team.

Erm... because if he does live up to expectation it'll help us even more? What is there not to see about hoping a player does well so we get promoted?

I think he geniunely could be the difference - after all is said and done we didn't drastically change our team between the start and end of last season so why did the team suddenly start performing? Maybe Willy will actually play well from the start!

so why did the team suddenly start performing?
Thorne was on fire, Colbeck came back rejuvinated from Darlo and Stuart ****ed off Evans... those are some of the reasons... not cameo performances by Topp.
Don't get me wrong... I like Willy(oo err missus).. and he can hopefully fit nicely into the jigsaw, but we shouldn't get carried away.. Stuart needs to build a team, which he is doing, not rely on individuals to carry us to the third division.
