I think its funny how Daley and Barry are the ones that get the most stick.

Is it jjust a coincidence that these two are the focal points of 90% of our attacks. Basically we have two primary methods of going forward:

1) Daleys pace
2) Lump it up to Big Baz and let Thorne or whoever feed off the scraps.

In my opinion it is therefore no coincidence that these two players get the most stick when we lose or play badly - could it not just be that the opposition did their homework and negated our threats?

I believe that the sooner we get Colbeck back the better - he will give us something else going forward. I will also be interesting to see what Brandon offers us whe he is fit again.

With regards to the strikers, it is difficult at this level, because it is the Bruisers that seem to prosper, and most teams that are successful in League 2 rely on the Target man tactic. This, as I have said before is why Thorne looks alot better up there with Conlon, and is also why Mccall probably doesnt like the idea of playing Topp up there (it is highly unlikely to be successful in this division.

I'd agree with all that - Brandon and Colbeck will give the team other options.

Spot on there Legend tup:

Both Baz and Daley were the teams better performers pre-season and against County yet they have being pillored today by most fans because we crumbled as a team in the 2nd half.

Lets put It down as a bad day at the office for all concerned and get the 3 points at Macc along with our pre-season optimism!

Going up! :)

watch us score goals for fun with colbeck down one side and brandon down the other everyone knows i aint a daley fan but he has the potential but he just too ****ing retarded. You dont need conlon in this team he is a poor target man and we dont need him. Everyone harps on about you cant play football in this division but you can, the grass is green the pitch have to be a standard minimum size if your good enough you will win. We have too many players that havent got a footballing brain and macca seems unable to get any ideas (if he has any) through to them. Topp is intelligent enough and regardless of what many think he could handle it he was getting kicked to **** in some games and he just got up and got on with it.This club has a history of cutting its nose off to spite its face and its getting a bit tedious now

I haven't given Daley much abuse - when he plays well he plays excellent but he always has a period in EVERY match where he just goes off the boil. Anyone with eyes can see that. He needs to play well consistently to avoid criticism - I think he does get more criticism because he's one of our better players if that makes sense - 'cause we all know he can do better when he has a bad game.

Conlon was my major gripe in the Hudds game. He lost nearly every ball he touched through sloppy passes or by running at defenders with the ball too far in front of him. His first touch was nightmarish for most of the night. He looked like he'd been out on the tiles the night before.

I dont hold grudges against any City player and thought Daley was probably just about MOTM against County and did his best vs the TBs.

What I can't accept from City players is the sort of careless attitude Omar showed towards the end of last season. :(

He's shown and set his own standards now and if he drops way below them then the Daley lovers must accept he's gonna be a legitimate target for the boo boys and abuse on here!

I hope thats not the case though.

Daley hasn't got any abuse so far, poor game at Hudders but he was marked by like 3 players so couldnt really do owt, set up Arnison for a few crosses though a few times which was good.

Was amazing v County so I can't see how anyone can get on his back, quite admire the City fans attitude towards him so far, they've given him a 2nd chance.

Conlon though, was poor Saturday and poor Tuesday.

Abd im one of his biggest fans!

I wasnt there on Tuesday, but he definatly wasnt poor on saturday - people just dont appreciate him. If you fail to realise that football is about partnerships, then I really think you need to learn something about the game. Fact is simple - Thorne is fantastic, but his effectivness is not nearly as good when he isnt playing with Conlon, because Baz takes alot of pressure off him. Its all well and good having two brilliant individual strikers up front, but if they cant play together, then they wont fullfill their potential. You could have two 30 goal a season strikers up there that wouldnt get 15 between them if they they are bullied out of a game. Look at when Fowler and Owen were at Liverpool - they could only play one of them with Heskey, because the two of them together just got muscled out of everything. In the playground and the world of championship manager (or whatever it is called these days), to be a good striker, you have to score goals, but as Ive got older, Ive realised, that its about more than just that. I dont argue with the fact that a striker will first and foremost always be judged on scoring goals, but to see this as the only factor is extremly naieve. I would rather have one striker scoring 30 goals because he is being helped by someone else taking all the stick and doing all the donkey work, than two "names" getting 15 between them because they arent a partnership and are being bullied.

I am not Barrys greatest fan, but I do think that alot of his work goes unnoticed, and that was why I was pleased with the ovation he got from the Kop on Saturday (it wasnt just because Mickey B was coming on). The only thing I would say about him, is maybe he wouldnt get as much jip from some fans if he wasnt on the piss every friday before a game.

Well said Legend tup:

I've alway's said just ask Peter Thorne who he prefers playing upfront with and there lies the answer!

Anyone who thought Baz had a poor game last Saturday or didn't recognise the ovation he got when he left the field must have been on another planet :)
