Worked really well together yesterday resulting in Thorne's cross to set up Boulding's first goal for the club but Is it the way forward for the rest of the campaign?

I really hope so but as well as Thorney played the target man role yesterday i fear he may struggle to make the same impact against some of the more physical and brutal defenders in League Two.

I also reckon at 35 his body will struggle to cope with the battering he'll receive playing the target man role in every game and he may pick up more injuries and miss more games in the process.

Lets hope my fears aren't realised and the Thorne/Boulding partnership works as well as it did in every game and they fire us to promotion! jump:

Hopefully Stu is scouting the opposition and knows when we'll need Big Baz to start a game to take a bruising and leave Thorney/Boulding to feed off him. Horses for courses.

Or times when Topp plays the role of Blake to Lee Mills.

I really believe we have a real potential star here waiting to pee all over Division 4. He just needs unshackling.

Where is the news that he is injured for 4 weeks?

Thornes better at winning headers than Conlon anyway!

I think Thorne will get a breather and miss the odd game when fixtures pile up (as always happens in the winter) - he'll get wrapped in cotton wool as far as training goes so hopefully we'll see him get 20+ this season, I reckon Boulding won't be far behind as well - getting better every game as he gets match fitness back and has a bit of pace about him to unsettle defenders.

Both Thorne and Boulding are better headers of the ball than Conlon, he may be bigger and get his head to more balls - but it's practically always aimless, whereas both Thorne and Boulding can use the ball intelligently.

There's a myth that as he's a big burly guy he is better at holding the ball than the others, he isn't and having defenders worrying about Boulding's off the ball runs and tracking him will create space for Thorne and tire them out just as much as them having Barry bashing into them would.

Boulding and Thorne are quality. Id sack Conlon and Topp off and use Boulding, Thorne, Other Boulding, Sign a youngish striker (someone who can takeover when Thorne quits) and Daley
