I mentioned this (amongst other things) before a few weeks back in a thread about events coming up in Belgium. http://www.belgianbeerweekend.be/

Maybe some of you are on the way back from holidays or feel like a loony weekend away somewhere. You even get Americans coming over just to go to this. It's a reet good do and the weather has always been fantastic for it in recent years. My attendance will be limited because it's my weekend with my daughter.

Then there is this one on the following weekend. http://www.festivalbruxellensis.be/

Mostly indoors but with an outside bit. And no constraints on ZB's full participation in this one.

(Cue all usual comments about yoghurt knitting, beards, cardigans and sandals)

Looks superb. Best beer in the world. I'm fortunate enough to work as a beer buyer for a retail chain over here in Tallinn, so I might see if work can send me over for a little research!

If you make it, try calling in here http://www.impassedelirium.be/ because it's just around the corner from Grand' Place. My only gripe with it is people soddin well smoking.

Is the Wieze Festival still in existence? It was somewhere near Aalst or Lebbeke. It was a smaller version of The Munich Oktoberfest with Huge beer halls, Funfair etc. Had many happy years and drunken weekends visiting Wieze.

Also visited a small fest at Diksmuide a couple of times which wasn't as good but still a top weekend!

I've been in there a few times! First time I was in there, I was knocking back the old Tremens, and after 5 (without realising the abv...or maybe just ignoring it), my knees gave way and I promptly tumbled to the floor. All the more embarrassing was that it was just as a load of Japanese tourists walked past, and I remember one of them taking a picture of me whilst I lay on the ground startled.

Still thats what its all about - Morte Subite and all that! :)

5 Delirium Tremens and you were on the floor? Ya big girl's blouse.

I lose my memory before my balance. Takes more than 5 DT's though.

A mate of mine came to my house once and shifted 8 Rochefort 10's (11.5% alkyhool). He was very sick outside though.

From memory, I'd already had a skinful in Au Bon Vieux Temps, and after I had got up and bowed to the Japanese tourists, I then went and passed out on one of the "tabletops" at Le Circeuil. It was the Gueuze that caused all the trouble!

You're supposed to say " I think that last pint was a bit dodgy. " (Before throwing up all over your shoes!) I seem to get loads of bad pints.
