Nix would have been the better substitution - not ideal for Topp to come on when we were incapable of keeping posession and stretching their players - black mark for Stu in my book.

I also thought it was the wrong time for Billy

black mark in my book is he doesnt play topp enough thats why hes rusty and his touches are poor , but hes defintley got the skill to be a topp player (see what a did there hehe top .... nevermind )

Willy should have been on for Colbeck (Daley switched to the right) after 70 minutes. Colbeck had a mare & the forwards want to feel hard done by for being brought off!!

Looks like Stu can't win ffs!

One minute Topps not getting a chance and when he does and fails to take it, its Maccas fault???

I despair sometimes.......:(

You know for a fact that if he does play Topp and he doesn't do anything then the folk who wanted him in will turn on Macca for doing so tdwn:tdwn:

6 minutes hardly is time to make a massive impact. Its not really a chance to take imo.

True, but when given the chance in his position you have to grab it with both hands.

Besides, Its enough time to judge that Conlons shite so whats good for the goose and all that! ;)

Topp wasn't very good when he came on, and has been poor in the last two reserve matches which I went to.

he had a great chance at end and spooned it.

I was hoping we would go 3-0 then I think he would have been given a bit longer. As it was it was unfortunate timing for him to come on. Not to worry though, he'll get a few more opportunities in the coming weeks.

I hope so but he has to grab any opportunity he gets with both hands!

He needs a goal or something or his days here looked numbered :(

the question is, if willy topp wasn't from chile would anyone be giving as much of a fck??

sharry was brilliant in pre season and yet hasn't had a chance, and by the sounds osbourne is playing well too. willy is a player like anyone else and if you can't trust maccalls judgement on this one, as with the other players not getting a look in, then you have to qquestion whether you really suppoort mccall as much as you say. topp has had chances, its not just league games its training reserves etc etc. i really hope he can become a success but only as much as i hope the likes of sharry and osbourne can break into the team and do well some day.

we keep going on about topp while there are obviously other more important basic first 11 team issues to sort out. we have to face the possibility however ludicrous it sounds that topp might actually be quite average.

2-1 is not much of a lead -- bring in an attacker on is not a good idea --
We wernt chasing owt -- just need to keep possession -- better a midfielder

If he'd had done that he'd have being accused of defending against 10 men no doubt!

No win situation.

I think it's difficult to be critical of that! I thought his technique was actually pretty good, he had to turn quickly and he struck the ball with quite abit of venom, plus it wasn't too far away!

Course people'd care!

There was so much hype over us signing him because 'he's got amazing raw talent'

And there'd been interest from Coventry, Carlisle and West Brom before we got him
