View Full Version : Simply not good enough

We seemingly have to score three times just to have a chance at winning, this must be sorted out now or we have absolutely no chance of a top three finish. Clarke looks a liability at the moment - bad decision making and constantly giving away free kicks.
The Midfield still isnt getting hold of games and the Thorne Conlon partnership lacks pace...so disappointed with tonights 'performance'...lets hope we get out of October still somewhere near the top...tdwn:

Can't see it, we just don't look good enough, we need to be turning sides like this over convincingly, or at least looking comfortable with the ball and having ideas. The defence is jittery, thae midfield second best, even Thorne went missing tonight.................Evans played well.
On tthe last months evidence we have made little progress from last year and thats unacceptable with a far better squad

That is indeed what it feels like...fed up of being disappointed so often!!
We have spent good money (wages) on good players and they need to start performing.
The signings made are all quality at this level..but for some reason, Boulding, McLaren, Lee (In particular) are not performing to an acceptable standard.

Personally, i'm fed up of the amount of times we concede in the last few minutes. Are the players fit enough mentally and physically

I'd rather have Eddie Johnson than Mclaren at the minute!

One win in 6 games tells its own story doesnt it fellas. Also 12 against in that time. Our defence at times doesnt even look like they know what they are doing and give the opposition far too much space and we are getting punished for it.
The big disapointment for me this season has been McLaren, he far too often goes missing in games, i thought the guy was supposed to be a playmaker?
I thought Evans was very poorly placed for the first tonite and i have to be controversial and say i see a fair few mistakes from the lad. Also personally dont believe he is tall enough.
Back to the drawingboard, things are not working as they are.

McClaren wants dropping and a good kick up the arse, only time I noticed him tonight was when he fouled their player on the touchline, not good enough!
Lee did OK apart from the goal when he was outjumped by a midget from Liechenstein ffs!....Overall though he's not fit to lace Wetherall's boots:(

Time to try TJ in the centre if Bower is injured & get Arnison back at RB. Get Nix tackling in the middle, McLaren needs to know hes not an automatic choice & he needs a kickup the arse

Well, that's the first time I've seen City for ages and I'm afraid that performance was disgraceful. No passion, desire or commitment. Even from the manager who showed, unlike Dave Penny, little motivation to his players.
A mid table fourth division side if ever I've seen one.
I thought that McCall had signed 'eyebrow raising' players?
Aren't we supposed to be going for back-to-back promotions?
Utter garbage, maybe Mr. redbook is right after all?
It's going to cost me a fortune to get over for the Barnet game and I'm going to have to put up a performance like that?
Maybe I should cancel my flight.

I agree JS tup:
I'd bring back Arnison, drop clarke for Moncur, Sharry in the middle for McClaren for the Grimsby game.
Theres a few players needing a good kick up the arse in that team tdwn:

I might get slated for my opinion, but here goes...
Evans - Been fairly solid this season. His positioning for the freekick was very poor. I still think he's decent, but no better than that.
O Brien - Probably the better of the back four. Smallest defender and he wins more headers than Lee it seems.
Moncur - Hoof, straight to the keeper, well done. Still undecided on Moncur. Would rather have Arny in there for the attacking part of his game.
Lee - Someones put rohypnol into his coffee or something. He looked amazing in the first 3-4 games, poor since. Up your game Lee, you're our captain, but you'd be better off as the mascot.
Nix: He's a battler, but not a winger. We should have started with Daley. It's the middle of the park or nowhere for Nix.
Mclaren - You're not obese Macca, get around the park ffs.
Furman - Wish you were our player. The only one to come out of the game with any credit.
Colbeck - glimpses of what he could do, but was quiet for most of the game.
Thorne - Looked knackered. Starved of service all game. Too many games in the week probably.
Conlon - He's bloody better than clarke at CB! Get him converted :D.
We got outplayed everywhere tonight. Darlington actually had a midfield, which probably helped . First to loose balls, Easily passing through Mclaren who looked like he was out for a stroll with his dog, didn't look interested. I almost soiled myself everytime Clarke got the ball. We have some big lads at the back and further up, yet we get out fought and out jumped by the seven fooking dwarves, pitty Clarke isn't shorter, but I'll think I'll call him dopey anyway.
If I'm honest, this run is what we deserved. We haven't played well for a while and now we've got two tough games; Grimsby and Bury, both of which I'm confident we'll struggle in. This game has depressed me a little bit, because like others I was genuinely optimistic about our chances, but with recent form it'll be a repeat of last season.
