Aston Villa have banned the sale of poppies in thier ground, as they think it will impinge on contributions to other local charities that they support.
What are your thoughts on this?

Disgusting but nothing surprises me anymore tdwn:
If they are so worried about other charities been affected then why not donate some of the millions of pounds they spend on players/wages etc...to them?

From the Villa website:
Club Statement
Villa can confirm that - contrary to newspaper reports - there will be support for the Royal British Legion at the home game with Middlesborough on Sunday November 9th.
The club's charity partner Acorn's will hold the collection for both causes - splitting the proceeds 50-50.
The club will, as usual, also have poppies on sale in the club shop.
Villa are also pleased to announce a link-up with HMS Daring enabling sailors from Birmingham's Navy ship to wear claret and blue kits in inter-force competitions.
Villa also have special ticket deals for members of the armed forces and have recently set up a British Forces Lion's club."

Just goes to show that it must have been a poor news day.
City should also have poppy sellers out - The club have past players who where lost during the two wars.

Its fair enough.
Villa let the charity acorns sponsor their shirt for free a bit like Barca did with unicef.....
