Can anyone explain to me what this man does to warrant a place in a Championship team let alone the potential Champions of England?

He runs round the pitch and bumps into people as far as I can see, a sort of Lee Crooks/EJ type version of the Premier league!

Im sure he's one of those "Imitation professional footballers" often shown on Sky that's somehow got through undetected! lol :)

Just lucky for that lad that folk in footballing circles actually rate him..

I reckon he is a good player underated.. Hard to shine in a team with so much natural talent and he is only a young lad too..

I've always thought Mikel and Kalou are the weak links in that team/squad....they do a job tho i suppose - a bit like Fletcher and O'Shea at Man Utd, ordinary squad players.....

I dont see what he actually does though apart from kick people and give away stupid free-kicks in dangerous areas???

I never see him hitting defence splitting passes, breaking up play or looking likely to score goals, dont see what he brings to the table thats why I asked what others thought on here, although as you say he seems rated enough to be picked by decent managers so he must do something?

Thing is KB Kalou is a decent player and when on as a sub or a starter always causes defences problems..

He weighed in with vital goals in games where the bigger players were not performing..

fletcher and Oshea totally different and a large step below Mikel and Kalou..

The fact that Sir Alex was so pissed off and fought to sign him shows he must have something

Is this the same man who signed Djembe Djembe or whatever he was called?

Think Sir Alex had a lucky escape with Mikel TBH.

His job is to sit in front of the back four and distribute the ball now that Makelele has gone. He is good with the ball at his feet if you watch him. He is not an impact player nor is he as good as some of their other stars but I wouldn't call him crap. He is like the cement in between the bricks of talent at Chelski.

I know where he plays and what his job his but unlike Makalele he doesn't seem to get involved enough and the only time you notice him is when he gives a stupid free-kick away on the edge of the area or when he gets booked.

Think Chelsea could do a lot better TBH.

Maybe he will develop as he gets older but he does little to inspire me when i've watched, maybe if i watched him live i'd see more to his game?

Wonder what Chelsea fans think of him?

Jose, Grant and Scolari all pick or picked him regularly... I have seen him play quite a few times and think he would walk any other side in the Prem..

But hey.. That's me..

If I picked up The Sun tomorrow and on the back page was the headline..."Mikel joins Bantams"...I wouldn't be creaming my knickers!!

That's how I judge whether I rate someone! Same goes for the likes of Fletcher, O'Shea etc...nowt to write home about in my opinion.

These are the kind of guys who know they're shite and would rather be a bit part player for the European Champions than test themselves elsewhere...

If they were that good why would they settle for the bench everyweek?? They know this and more importantly Fergie knows this...

You couldn't have 22 superb players in your squad or they'd all be sulking, that's why every Chelsea, Manure & Liverpool team have a core of talent and a few numpties happy for the odd minute here and there due to injuries etc... tdwn:

LOL - He is just like Carrick at Man Utd...**** me, I could do what they do play it 5 yards back or to the side:rolleyes: They never look like they are out of breath or sweating, granted they are fitter than me;)
