Was at Stamford Bridge the other night and have to say it was a great performance by Burnley, even if Chelsea were not at their best. They played good football, were not overawed by the occassion and deserved to win. They defended really well and were always looking to get the ball foward. If they go up and play like that in the Prem, they have a decent chance of staying up. Spoke to some Chelsea fans who said only Liverpool played better against them at the Bridge this season.
Credit also to vast majority of the 6,000 Burnely fans who made their way down midweek, they contributed toa great atmosphere, as did the Chelsea fans who were not usual £45/£50 a ticket merchants but fans who took advantage of the £20 offer.
I said a majority of the Burnely fans because of course there was a minority who threw coins at Chelsea players. Of course Drogba will get at least a three match ban for responding, but I doubt very much if the coin throwers will get punished. A shame it put a downer on would otherwise have been remembered as a great advert for the League Cup.
