Was watching a lil of Norn Iron V Scot u21's earlier and it got me thinking about the use of VP.
Its a nice ground 27,000 ish in Capacity how come it is never used for International Friendlys for the younger teams ? Do you have to apply to be on the list or is it due to financial reasons or something else?

They have held U21 games at VP in the past....think England played Italy there once.
Massimo Maccarone scored and was the best player on the pitch IMO....a few weeks later he signed for Boro and was a bit of a flop!

Unless the ruling has changed, I believe the younger England teams, i.e. U 21's, have to use a ground within a certain distance of where the full England team are playing.. usually they play, say, the night before..

I remember Shaun Wright-Phillips made his U21 debut for England at Valley Parade when we were in Division One/Championship
...can't remember who against though:D
Also remember the England U21 team beating Denmark U21's at VP, think it was 5-1 when we were in the Premiershiptup:

Was that when Howard Wilkinson was in charge and he called Gareth Grant into the squad after they had a couple of withdrawals?
