Apparently so

Really good to keep it tight at the back and carry out a ruthless performance and get 3 points at a very difficult place to go and win. Shame the strikers have dried up not scoring v Rovrum, Wycombe and MkDons but i'm sure they will come again and i'm glad others are stepping in and scoring in the meanwhile...

Full credit to the boys...tup:

The only slight criticism I've had of O'Brien up to now has been that he doesn't get forward enough. Today he was class, linked up really well with the attack, seems to be really full of confidence and scored a great goal. 1st half was poor, 2nd half was better and I felt we looked a better side without McLaren, much more passing and moving unlike the crab that only goes sideways.

I thought Osbourne was quite poor, made a few good tackles but was never really a threat like Omar or Colbeck are when they play on the wings. Good management decision to take him off and put Conlon on, fair play to the ginger one.

The only player I thought was really poor all game was Matt Clarke, he defends like a striker, arms all over their players, loses position all the time, gave the ball away numerous times. I honestly can't see why McCall keeps picking him and if Bower is now fit he should be walking into our team (and looks like T Clarke is off back to Hudders). He seems to have his favourites and is too stubborn to change things for the good of the team. I think Bower would play well with Lee and we would be much better defensively, we're always capable of scoring so if we get better at the back we can kick on again for the rest of the season.

Absolutely thrilled with the result and a clean sheet, if McCall kicked their ass at half time it worked as we came out much better and seemed to play with more purpose. The ground is awful, what a horrible soulless place, no atmosphere at all, view is not great but also not as bad as many make out. Stewarding was a joke, got there to find someone sat in our seats, loads standing all over the place and been told to sit down but with nowhere to sit as others were already in their seats too.

After we scored a few fans ran onto the running track and some got escorted out. I wonder where we stand legally on this if they were arrested as well as thrown out - it is an offence to run onto the playing area (the pitch) but they never went on the pitch, just the track. Will be interesting to find out what happened to those ejected.

One last point - the refereeing in this league, what a joke. We got a throw in after the ball had gone out on the sideline and Rovrum operate a multiball policy with 4 ball boys down each side and 2 behind each goal, all holding match balls. The ball went out of play, a ball boy gave TJ the ball, he took the throw in and play went on but then the other ball that went out of play was thrown back onto the field and for a few moments there were 2 balls in play. Referee blows his whistle and stops play - fair enough right? I then expected him to give us a free kick or make us take the throw in again as it was not our fault that 2 balls were in play. The clown of a ref gives a competitive drop ball, how does that work???

4th in the league without looking particularly fantastic, get that other centre back position sorted, more clean sheets and we'll be certainties for promotion. If our midfield can eventually click and we find the correct pairing there will be no stopping us, i'd personally like to see how Furman and Bullock would get on together. Tuesday night is a massive game, Chesterfield are in form, Jamie Ward can't stop scoring, if he plays I'll guarantee he'll cause Clarke all sorts of problems. Onwards and upwards. tup:

Thanks mate for that, good write up

Completley agree about Matt Clarke, he is really clumbsy and grapples with their strikers and is incredibly gaff prone and i dont know why McCall, Jacobs and Wethers like him so much.

I will say that the referee did the right thing by playing a drop ball and it is the players decision whether or not they should return the ball, the law just states it is to restart with a drop a ball so in theory he was right but i agree he should probably have told the rotherham player that he thought the ball should be returned to us. Presumably this is why clubs dont use such a system.

I was shocked as to how we didn't lose 4 or 5 nil today. O'Briens shot was the only time we ever looked like scoring, even Law's shot was crap work from their goalie.

They were better than us all over the field for most of the 90 minutes, and some players were truly abysmal. We came back into it at the end with a few breaks but when it was a contest during the first hour we were nowhere to be seen.

Just my opinion. I am happy we got the three points but I would have been apoplectic if I was a Rotherham fan as to how we didn't win. Then again I thought we were unlucky last week.

I was astounded by how many City fans showed up too... where did they all come from? Fair effort anyway!

Fella at side of me was a Sheff Utd fan but he was sat with a young lad who was a City fan. He was going to go watch Charlton V Sheff Utd but decided against it. His mate rang him at 5-1 and he didn't believe him, thought he was taking the piss. Good support today, I think we took 1,637.

O'Brien's been with City since the age of 8 when he joined as a junior and he scores now at the age of 20. I look forward to him scoring again in 2020tup:

I thought that O'Brien had a great game...can't see Hecky getting back in the side anytime soon (which isn't a bad thing).

The turning point was the save by Evans just a minute before Laws goal...how on earth did he save that? It was down the far end but it looked from a distance that it was one of the saves of the season.

Mclaren very poor again today. Looks like he'll be out for a few weeks when he hobbled off. His range of passing is similar to Mike Duxbury, 10 yards back or sidewards. Once Bullock is fit i'd play Bullock and Law centre mid, Furman and Mclaren on the bench.

City fans superb today, a great following.jump:

I thought we were poor first half and very good second half. Agree about Mclaren, very poor game again. Well done O'B, what a great goal.

A well earned and well deserved 3 points and a good day all round.

Nice to see that half of South Yorkshires finest felt the need the stand in front of the City fans for the entire 2nd half...that was all a bit OTT.

I've just seen the goals and was very impressed with OB's! He got the ball in his own half, surged forward, took it past a defender onto his left and burried the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box! Also set up Nicky Law's which again was a decent strike!

It really does sound like a smash and grab, but if we play crap and still win you can't complain! tup:
