I'm sorry but I think theres no need for that report. Making this news that theres 8 people on banning orders is stupid.
8 banning orders out of an average 12,000 home fans and the biggest travelling support in the league is good. Ok its not good we have any but why not add statistics of other clubs too.

As someone pointed out, you can receive a footy banning order without committinga criminal offence:eek:.

I'm no wishy washy, Guardian reading, nut cutlet eating, yogurt knitting, fairtrade buying, tree hugging, social worker, liberal - but I'm getting worried about civil liberties (or lack of) in modern Britaintdwn:

Especially football supporters tdwn:

Can you Imagine any other section of society being discriminated against so blatantly every weekend and treated with such contempt by the Police?

I think it depends on your demeanor and who you're with.. I'm (usually) sober at games and I've rarely had trouble with the police, in fact they're usually quite pleasant, maybe it's because we're playing small teams with smaller more intimate policing operations.

If you turn up half cut shouting stuff at the top of voice, you're not committing any crimes but you will get treated with a different degree of suspicion.

There are some exceptions to the rule e.g. South Yorkshire Police who treat you like something they trod in whoever you are.

A football supporter throws a coin on to the pitch and is caught, 3 months in prison and banned from football for 5 years and receives a life ban from his club.

Didier Drogba throws coin in to the crowd and gets 3 match ban, where is the difference in the behavior of the two?

If a football supporter ran on the pitch and kicked a player in the head, he would receive 5 years in prison and a life ban from all football grounds.

Eric Cantona jumps in to the crowd and boots a football supporter in the head and gets a slap on the wrist.

i have to agree with the comments about the t&a being out of order putting a story out like that. when you look at the figures we come out quite well given the comparative size of our crowds. I would have expected city to be one of the worst clubs in L2 but the figures for Shrewsbury, Chesterfield and Grimsby dwarf ours. 3 teams I wouldn't even have considered as having "a problem"

All depends on what sort of spin the local media decide to put on a story doesn't it?

1 - City have 8 banning orders - shock horror tdwn:

2 - City have only 8 banning orders compared to local rivals Beeston who have over 150 tup:

Chesterfields is probably all against mansfield tbh. Its a feisty one.

I wouldnt say the club is being shamed by these fans as a small number would be expected. As others have said it is hardly a huge figure, and some where for alcohol offences, hardly like we are bunch of out of control hoolies like L##ds.

When Chesterfield beat us 3-2 at home a few years ago they only brought about 25 hoolies with them but caused absolute havoc.
