I'm getting married to the Doris:flame: next year and to help me lose the old beer gut (and save some brass) she is wanting me to cut down the amount of Booze I consume. She mentioned limiting myself to 10 pints a week but I think that is just too lowtdwn:.

How much (honestly) does everyone drink per week? This isn't ya doctor asking so no lies ;)

Nowhere near as much now, with 2 teenage lads i'm more like the taxi-driver than the drinker.

Down to one night a week out in the pub now although i do a sunday lunch with the old man.

Im in a similar situation to yourself, in the fact that I have moved in with "Our Lass", and we are planning on getting wed next year. In the time that Ive been living with the ball and chain, my alcohol consumption has dropped rapidly. Nowadays, I probabaly have about 5 pints and a bottle of wine on an average week. This varies massivly to a couple of years ago when I was living with the lads, and we were out 3 nights a week. At that time, I was easily drinking 30 pints + shots etc a week. I still have my high consumption weeks when I go out with the lads, but nothing like we used to.
Unfortunatly, due to the medication that Im on, Ive actually put on weight rather than lost it during this time.:confused::eek:

You're being nagged to cut down BEFORE you get married?

Just out of interest, do you find her thumbs are getting increasingly heavy? ;)

Same situation here mate. Getting married in October and before I was with the missus I was at the pub every night after work for a few, but didnt eat a great deal as I want to save space for the beer.

Since I have cut down the beer, our lass as had me eating so I have piled on the weight which has totally defeated the cutting down of drink, so now Im sober AND fat.

Since my lass finished Uni a couple of years ago my alcohol consumption has plummeted! tdwn:

Hardly ever go out with the lads and instead of getting pissed on a Saturday by drinking copious amounts of Lager and Southern Comfort, I now stay in and share a bottle of white wine with her! but then again, that does have it's advantages!

I have always found that men seem to take their future spouse at face value, whereas women regard their intended as more of a 'work in progress'. She'll be telling you what to wear next, what colours suit you best.

How dare she question your beer intake and the effect on your waistline. Her time would be better spent wondering how she will get her fat arse in to that wedding dress.

lol - funny thread!!!

Been there done it - got the t-shirt, the whole marriage, having a baby, trying to be grown up thing.....
You can't be told how to act tho - long term once the rosyness wears off you'll be left unhappy and it'll lead to misery....mark my words!!

Taken me quite a few years to get there but the lass i'm now settled with is awesome - we both have a drink on a night - not every night but most nights, she never gives me earache about how much i'm allowed to drink and when, i think one of the secrets is to meet a bird who you have loads in common with - that way like us you want to go out together all the time, we do pretty much everything together and i love it - we do gigs, the footy etc - and it means cos were out together were drinking together and no earache about how much i'm drinking, how much i'm spending etc!! Win, win situation - those who might say its sad to go out with the Mrs all the time just aint met the right one yet IMHO of course - i suppose were all different but meeting someone who likes the same things you do before you meet em (and not who does just because you do) makes life so much easier and happier!!!!....;) tup:

Getting a little soppy now this thread  The Doris comes out with me a fair bit but I couldn't imagine doing everything together. She hates football (although not suprised the Dads a scummer) along with most sports! I'm of the opinion there are some things boyz and girlz are meant to do together ;) and there are somethings they quite simply aren't!

At least you managed to pull a little self respect back with that post Phil.

I'll be watching you though so don't let your standards slip again. tup:
