BFB have heard rumours that Sheffield Uniteds Niel Shipperley will be brought in on a months loan to cover for Windass.
With Cooke at Darlington Todd has said he wants to use this to bring in a midfielder and a striker.
IMO Shipperley would be an excellent signing, a big strong targetman who has already netted 9 times in the Championship this season. Rumored to have fallen out of favor with Neil Warnock after he has recently signed Geoff Horsfield, Brian Deane and Bruce Dyer.
Good players like Shipperley are exactly the type of lads that have the talent to succesfully play the way Todd wants us to play.
If we can crack on and get a winger who is good at crossing the ball as well as Shipperley then i'd be looking forward to the Bristol game much more.
I very much doubt we could get Shipperley though, a bit out of our league at the moment i think :(

Why not sign Shipperly, he'd push our average squad age above 40, pmsl.
Todd just go!

Cant see It myself, but HOPE it happens, he'd be great with the right service;)
I heard Cooky was only loaned out so that we could retain our non-playing staff for another month:confused:  :D

Shipperly could room with Claridge and chat about when balls used to weigh 20kgs and how they used to play with Stanley Matthews.
You've got to hand it to Todd, he likes the youngsters.
I hear he's talking Shilton out of retirement and going in for Gordan Cowans.

Parrott, why would they ship out Cooke for a month of peanuts, when they could have shipped out Windass permanently for £100,000+ up front a few weeks ago?

Shipperley is 31. He's also scored 9 goals in the Championship in half a season. Windass didnt do that in an entire season when we were in that league and is not as good as he was when we had him in't Premiership. The fact that Windass can now score 20+ goals in this league says something about what Shipperley could do.
Get in Shipperley and a proven right winger who can cross and i think we'll experience a huge upturn in results.
Personally i see this whole Cooke thing as part of the mass clearout that will happen in pre-season. I think the likes of Petta and Morrison will all go as well.
Keep our decent goalkeeper, defense (apart from Holloway + Swift) , Bridge Wilko, Schumacher, Penford and Windass and sell the rest. The key is making sure Todd buys better replacements.

Shipperley seems to of been round for years and years, I had been drinking wine when I made the comments above but he does look older than 31 and I can remember him from the early days of the premiership.
BTW - If there is going to a mass clearout the first person to go should be Mr Todd.

With all the forwards that city have out on loan --- I cant see the FA allowing city to bring in an emergency loan signing

Warnock won't let go of Shipperly at this stage of the season , Dyer was also doing the rounds yesterday on the rumour mill - and he scored last night for the Blades .
JR has not agreed to owt anyway according to Todd who saud he is busy on the phone every day - more like scanning fish4jobs.co.uk !

Actually he's been around for 31 Years, 3 months and 16 days. Hardly centuries. I'd actually say he was more or less still in his prime and at this level'd be a phenomenal signing, cannot see where your ageist character assasination came from if I'm honest..........

He hit the scene about the same time as Dean Windass. He was a Chelsea player whilst Deano was at Hull, I didn't realise there was 5 years between them even though they started out around the same time.

Thats the real reason you went!
You really have to see that paint job to believe it. They'd be better off just painting the carpet seeing as there is that much paint on there already.

Would love to have him at City to be honest. Just what we need in my opinion. And hes not that old, got 5+ years left in him yet.
