DAN FACING BAN AFTER FAILING DRUG TEST
FOOTBALL SHOCK...FOOTBALL SHOCK...FOOTBALL SHOCK
By Scott Piecha
DANNY CADAMARTERI has become the latest footballer to fail a drugs test.

The Bradford City midfielder could now be hit with a six-month ban if his B sample also proves positive.

And that will probably signal the end of a career that began in such dazzling fashion at Everton.

The troubled 26-year-old will travel to London this week and argue his case in front of FA disciplinary chiefs.

And even if the second sample is positive, Cadamarteri still has the right to appeal.

But it is the latest scandal to hit the Bradford-born star, who has been plagued by off-the-field problems.

Cadamarteri told The SP: "There is nothing I want to say about this at the moment because I need to speak to the FA. This is not over yet."

Bradford club secretary Jon Pollard said: "The club has nothing officially to say at this moment because it is in the hands of UK Sport."

Ever since Paul Merson made a public plea over his drug taking in 1994 while still playing for Arsenal there have been a number of high-profile players being caught taking illegal substances. Chelsea have hit the headlines twice, with both Mark Bosnich and Adrian Mutu failing tests for cocaine.

Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand hit the front pages for forgetting to turn up to his test.

Over the past five years Cadamarteri has been drifting around a number of clubs desperately trying to find the form that made him the Wayne Rooney of his day.

But fame seemed to just mean trouble for the pint-sized striker as he found himself being sentenced to 180 hours of community service at Liverpool Crown Court for an incident involving a lapdancer.

That was the end of his time at Everton and since he has moved down the leagues he has failed to recapture the form or promise he showed early in his career, which began as a trainee at Goodison Park ten years ago.

Cadamarteri, now in his second spell at Bradford, has also played for Sheffield United.

He will now have to sweat and see if he has any chance of dodging a lengthy ban that would surely be the end of any dreams he had of still playing in the top flight.

If he's found guilty, the club must sack him.

I wondered why all of a sudden his performances had improved.

The club have no choice but to sack him if found guilty.

Yep, i'm not really pissed off TBH - it gives us an excuse to sack him and not honour his contract, along with Deano and Wethers he'll be a highest earner at the club!!
The guys a waste of space and talent - how many fekkin chances has he had?.....at 25 he's still got a chance of fulfilling his potential - not at City any longer though!!
When he's in his mid 30's and landlord of a pub in Gomersal he'll look back and wish he'd not been such a fekkin nob-end!!...tdwn:

tdwn: To be honest, this news has made me really sad. All this sad, negative news coming out of Bradford City. It seems to have been like this since Jagger quit. As for Cadders, a young person with the world at his feet, who just couldn't control his ego, libido, attitude probelm or whatever. I doubt he'll end up owning anything, his head seems to be so screwed up. From hero to zero to joke and another stain on Bradford City FC. I hope the FA ban him for life, that is the best possible example they could set to young players and fans.

is it any wonder - we build these guys up to be god like, and so they start to believe the hype.

He was probably sold the gear by one his team mates - wouldnt suprise me the idiots!

Reality check, you are an underperforming 3rd tier footballer who got fame on the premis of one goal against liverpool, and flattered to deceive for the rest of your career!

He isn't as daft as he looks, or at least the person who advised him - he knew if he'd have failed his test he'd have lost his England place for good, and Man Utd would have had to sack a 29 million pound player......i reckon someone at Man Yoo advised him to "forget" it.....that way he can always claim his innocence!!....

What that man said!!!

It doesn't auger well for Bobby Petta next season either, I've just been on the FIFA website and Horlicks and Ovaltine are going on their list of banned substances.
