New manager of Middlesborough, no pro licence etc etc. Should managers have to have a FIFA Pro licence to manage in the top flight?

No as long as there is a commitment to getting the qualifications. On the other hand some would say yes because that way it means Southgate might have had to have started his management career outside the top flight and earnt the position he's been given.
Split vote by me then!

Does it really matter if you have a bit of paper, its a results driven industry, simple, lose games , the sack follows. If you win games no one will question if you have a qualification or not. Its a closed shop anyway, some one at Thackley could have every qualification but he would never in a million years get a job at a Prem League club unless he'd worked his way thru the divisions but chairmen will always go for the name

It realy doesn't matter. who cares? just by getting a few badges means you are no more prepared to be a manager

To be honest...I'd rather have taken Southgate as England Boss and left McClaren at Boro!!

The rules are the rules IMHO...
Should it only be a qualified driving tester who is able to pass you???? Or maybe we should let a joy rider do it as they drive too....
Should it only be a qualified dentist allowed to do the work??? Or would you be happy for Matty to get his pliers out, cos he works on his teeth with a tooth brush daily..I think..
All clubs agreed to those rules so for me it seems a bit rich to then say well actually tough **** we are gonna appoint who we want...

Being in charge of a car with no liscence is completely different from being in charge of a football club.....a car is a fatal weapon, a football club isn't. poor example
Similarly for a dentist, you have peoples lifes in your hands and you are bound by the hypocratic oath to care for them....nothing like a football club. Another poor example
Give the guy ago, he'll be sacked by xmas anyway:rolleyes:

Bit of a poor analogy that T. Southgate has played at the highest domestic level, European level and international football. I think he's a bit more qualified to run a football team than Matty is to work on teeth just because he brushes his teeth twice a day.

FA states he needs his correct badges to be qualified..
He doesn't have them yet so then he shouldn't manage....
There is no defence here..There are plenty with the correct credentials...
The two examples are in the same vein but if you don't like em fine i except that no worries...
They make sense to me that's all that matters...

Rules is rules..Where does the rule bending end...
They may as well scrap those rules as two teams now have unqualified managers... Overseas this isn't allowed and i'm not sure if it means he cannot manage Euro ties because of it...
