Bosses at Bradford City Football Club are being forced to pulp 55,000 copies of their newsletter which claimed a power-sharing deal between chairman Julian Rhodes and Peter Etherington had been sealed.
The latest issue of the Bantams News cost the club £2,500 to produce and was due to hit the streets today.
But it has now been scrapped because of an interview with Mr Etherington outlining his plans for the future as co-owner of the club.
The club's chief executive was due to invest £2.5 million into the Bantams to buy a 50 per cent share of the club from owner and chairman Mr Rhodes.

But the deal fell through last week because Mr Etherington asked for a delay to allow him to address "a personal matter".
Mr Rhodes rejected this and is now in talks with another potential investor, while Mr Etherington has left the club.
However, the latest issue of the Bantams News claims the power-sharing deal was already agreed.
A question and answer session in the August issue reads: Question: "You have now concluded an agreement with Julian Rhodes which gives you a more prominent role within the club. How would you describe the new role? Are you a shareholder? What is the division of labour between Julian Rhodes and yourself?"
Peter Etherington: "Julian will continue to work with the manager and I am concentrating on operational issues as well as major sponsors.
"Yes I am now a shareholder and will become a 50 per cent shareholder very soon."
Some 55,000 copies of the Bantams News were due to be delivered today and tomorrow.
But the August issue has been withdrawn.
The club's commercial manager Lindsey Leach said it cost the club £2,590 to print each issue of the Bantams News.
The same article can still be read in Bradford City Supporters' Trust summer newsletter, which carried out the original interview.
In the article Mr Etherington says a play-off place is the club's minimum target this year. And he criticises the way Bradford City was run before he arrived as the club's commercial manager last year.

What Peter Etherington had to say

Question: "What attracted you to Bradford City?"
"I was asked by Julian Rhodes to look at the commercial area within the club in May 2005. The club's financial problems had meant that the commercial side of the business had been decimated and needed to be rebuilt so this was a huge task."

On the power sharing deal with Julian Rhodes.
"Julian will continue to work with the manager and I am concentrating on operational issues as well as major sponsors. Yes I am now a shareholder and will become a 50 per cent shareholder very soon."

On the way the club was run.
"From an organisation perspective this club was a mess when I first came here: There was a lack of direction and leadership. The fans need to be given more respect in my view, specially taking into consideration what they have been through."

On his aspirations for Bradford City.
"This is a great club make no mistake.

"We are in the wrong league and the Championship should be and is our first goal.
"A play off place this year is the minimum.
"On a personal issue I have just moved to the area so I do not have to travel here each day which saves me time and money. I look forward with great optimism to the season ahead. Bradford City moving forward."

What impressed me was that they had printed off 55 000 copies. Now that was ambitious.
